About this item
- COARSE GROUND COFFEE FOR COLD BREWING – We start with gourmet arabica coffee beans from Colombia, then we grind them to the perfect coarse ground size for optimal cold brew extraction. Our grounds are perfect for using in your at-home cold brew coffee maker or system, French press, pitcher, or mason jar.
- DARK ROAST COLOMBIAN SUPREMO – Our beans are classified as ‘supremo’ which are the largest and highest quality beans from Colombia. When these beans are dark roasted, it brings out the nutty/chocolate notes and makes the most delicious tasting cold brew coffee.
- STRONG & SMOOTH BLEND – Our coffee is specially formulated to make a bold, balanced, low-acid, slightly sweet cold brew or iced coffee. You can easily adjust the strength to make it extra strong (more coffee or longer brewing time) or even lighter (more water).
- 1 LB RESEALABLE BAG (16 Ounce) – Our 3-layer natural kraft bag is foil-lined and has a one-way valve for optimal coffee freshness. The wide top opening makes for easy scooping and the seal keeps your one pound of coffee fresh. Our premium packaging makes the perfect gift for the special coffee lover in your life.
- FRESHLY ROASTED IN BROOKLYN, NYC – Stone Street Coffee Company is specialty small-batch roaster, we’ve been making artisanal coffee since 2009.

Over the past year, I've tried 67 different kinds/Brands of cold brew coffee (yes, I've kept track and written them down); some that I have made myself using my cold brew system (all purchased from Amazon or local stores) and some made by local coffee shops (where they just hand me a cup of cold brew coffee (typically with ice).
It's worth noting that I ONLY ever mix my cold brew coffee with water or ice, I never use sweeteners, milk or creamers; just the coffee concentrate with water. This way I get the true taste of the coffee.
Now that you understand just how obsessed I am with cold brew coffees, here's my review of this Stone Street Cold Brew Coffee:
This coffee is, by far, THE MOST DELICIOUS cold brew coffee I have come across. And that's saying a lot, especially since I've tried (as mentioned above) 67 different brands and types of cold brew (including this one). I will continue to try other brands and types of cold brews but so far this is, BY FAR, the best one I've tasted.
The flavor is rich and pure and doesn't have slight hints of aluminum, plastic or other artificial flavors like many of the other ones I've tried do... It's really difficult for me to put into words exactly what I mean but the bottom line is that this one just (somewhat magically to me) fresh and pure.
I should also point out that I am a big fan of the dark roast, so if you're not into dark roast, you might try another one... but still: If you don't like the dark roast-y flavor (which, btw, is not too intense in this one) then add a bit of milk or cream (maybe combined with a small amount of water or ice depending on your preference) and give this one a shot anyway :) I bet you'll like it!
Last note: If anyone has any other brands or types of cold brew suggestions, leave a comment! :) I'm always searching for more to try!
This is a revised review; problem is SOLVED, and boy am I a HAPPY CAMPER again! As I type I am sitting here sipping this WONDERFUL Stone Street Cold Brew Reserve (Dark Roast Coarse Grind) and I have to reiterate that this is hands-down, absolutely the BEST cup of cold brew...EVER!!! This is all thanks to Rachel at Stone Street for reading my original Amazon review (on July 18th as seen below), directly reaching out, making things right, and completely solving my problem. (Rachel surmised that I had received a bag of light roasted Colombian instead of the Dark Roasted Cold Brew...mis-labeled???...and was diligently working on her end to ensure that this wouldn't happen again.) Not all companies would address the issue head-on, but Stone Street did. :-)
I knew right away as the coffee began to develop its dark color from the get-go, and as I sip today, that ahhhhh-mazingly rich Colombian brew, well, there's just nothing like it! And this is even BETTER than my first bag (I mean what can beat a brand new, freshly opened bag of coffee, am I right)?!
This is an OUTSTANDING coffee, a WONDERFUL company to deal with, I'm a customer for LIFE and YOU should be too.

So anyway, just so you know my entire experience, below is MY ORIGINAL REVIEW OF JULY 18TH, (I entitled it "What Happened???"), and you can see Rachel's response to me in the Comments section:

I hate giving bad reviews but I don't even know what to say here.
I LOVED my first bag of Stone Street Cold Brew Reserve. Like this, my first bag was the Dark Roast Coarse Grind, however that bag had an expiration date of 6/20/17. It had the orange lettering which I understand has no bearing on the coffee inside. So as soon as that one was nearing the end, I hurried to purchase another bag.
My second bag was all dark brown lettering; expiration 11/17/2017 but all else was the same. Opened it up...mmm...that new coffee aroma! I couldn't wait to brew that first cup from my brand new bag. As always, I used my trusty Primula Travel Bottle...no change there, and the next morning I awoke ready to enjoy my first cold brew cup of...
...dirty dishwater.
That's just what it looked like, and it didn't taste much better. Giving things the benefit of the doubt (could it be 'user failure'???) I started all over and in the days that followed, the furthest I was able to get with this bag was a very weak iced-tea-colored bad-tasting coffee. I've made at least 5 batches with this bag and I can brew it for 3 days and get it a little darker but even then I can't bring myself to DRINK the stuff! I mean it's just NO GOOD.
And this is from a person who ADORED that first bag and consistently got a great-tasting cup of coffee time-after-time the whole FIRST go-round throughout the course of the entire first bag of the same exact stuff using the exact same cold brew process.
Something definitely happened here quality-control wise with at least one batch slipping through the cracks along the line. In reading the reviews I don't believe I am the only person this has happened to.
Let me start off by saying, I FREAKING LOVE COFFEE! And I love trying any new beans I can get my hands on. Usually I don't really care for the Columbian beans. They're amongst my least favorite. However, these were really darn good! A rich and bold roasty flavor with dark chocolate notes. Dark chocolate happens to be another of my vices hehe, and Ive always liked a good bean that pairs well with it.
Upon opening the bag, the smell of the beans permeated our household and both my wife and I kept saying "I can't wait to try that coffee!".
Some tips I can give from my experiments thus far. For a half gallon jar of this coffee I used around 2 cups of the grinds in the filter. The first batch I cold brewed in the fridge for 24 hours and it came out really good. The second batch I tried a room temperature brew on the counter overnight. Seems like 12-14hrs of brewing that way made an equally tasty batch. The flavor profile was a bit different between the two. So maybe try for yourself and see which you like best.
Not only was this brew tasty straight black, or with milk and/or sugar, I also really enjoyed making myself a homemade "Javachip Frappuccino" with it. I cut up some good dark chocolate into small chunks and blended it with the coffee and cold-frothed milk and it was fantastic! If you like dark roasts that have a bit of a dark chocolaty flavor, give this a try!
I already bought a second bag lol, and now I really want to try some of Stone Street's other coffee.
