There are so many quotables in this book - Lisa Murray really is a creative genius inspiring and unleashing all that we need to read to be assured that we can freely create however we like, and our only limit is our imagination.
Similar to Big Magic in philosophy, this is a joyful book of inspiration :)
I can wait to start playing and put my creativity out into the world.
I can definitely see myself coming back to Lisa's words frequently for a touch of inspiration, encouragement and guidance.
Well worth reading.
Lots of fun to read too! Thanks Lisa!!!!
But Lisa Murray’s book goes well beyond meeting the basic requirement for a book that is intended to be inspirational. At the outset of her volume, she clearly and concisely states her thesis argument: “It’s time for a new dominant paradigm,” one of creating rather than fixing, which is what most people are preoccupied with most of the time.
STOP WAITING is a thorough, lively and innovative treatment of the subject matter. Understanding the creative process, dealing with “blocks” to creativity, the importance of finishing and of simplification … all these topics and more are treated in a well-organized and insightful manner.
* Start with your brilliance, rather than your passion
* Doing and fixing [are] not creating
* Are your ideas big enough?
* What if focus is a limitation?
* Work less, create more
These are but a few examples of the useful tools and solid guidance, along with a healthy dose of motivation, that the author shares with her readers.
Two suggestions I would make to the author: First, engage a good editor to correct the grammatical errors sprinkled throughout the book, which detract from the presentation. Second, abstain from the use of profanities. You really don’t need them, to either get the reader’s attention or to tell an interesting story. You already have the reader’s attention and you are a good enough writer to hold that attention without the use of profanities, which serve no constructive purpose. In the spirit of positive motivation, I won’t deduct any stars on the basis of these issues!
