Ladies and gentlemen, I fully understand the title of this book....."The Manchurian President: Barack Obama's Ties to Communists, Socialists and Other Anti-American Extremists" very controversial and disagreeable, to the loyal fans of this current president and his administration.

It is my opinion... those loyal fans, might feel betrayed and frustrated with Mr. Obama's known associations. The likes of which include: Rev Wright, Van Jones, Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Andrew Stern, George Soros, Ms. Anita Dunn, Ms. Valerie Jarrett, ACORN and SEIU, just to name a few, for example. In my mind's eye, it is difficult to defend such individuals and their beliefs. However, that is the premise and foundation of the book itself. I do not know how or why, the supporters of this administration, can remain undetached and unknowing of the truth... but that is their perrogative and must be respected by everyone.

Having said that... what truly annoys me is the disrespect... name-calling... personal attacks and insults.. as well as the anti-American rhetoric... and... the "racism"... which is being expressed (on both sides of this debate), but especially, in my opinion, the one star reviewers, who aggresively disagree with anyone, who opposes their political beliefs.

My view is... simply make your point... with class, dignity, decency, diversity, tolerance, understanding, sincerity, intelligence, character and truth... then let it go. No one is going to change the minds of those, who do not agree with opposing political views. However, we can ALL express our opinions, views, ideas, emotions and thoughts... as mature, human beings, 'DEVOID OF POLITICS", hopefully. But please... agree to disagree... with respect... as the norm... and... not the fluke.

Thank you....

Well Said

Thank you Mr. Marks.

Very well said. Those individuals who resort to name-calling (on both sides) only do so because they lack an intelligent, logical argument or debate and this is the best thing they can come up with. What they don't realize is that they are displaying the "in-tolerance" that they themselves preach they have so much of.

Thank you Ms. Newhousegal for your kind comments and well said post.

E. New says:
What a crock! The only racism involved is what Obama's people have interjected to keep things stirred up and poor pitiful him. So he's black - who cares? (by the way it is Rev. Wright, not Rev. White - get your facts straight!) If he truly was born in Hawaii why doesn't he get his long form birth certificate shown so this issue can be put to rest. My daughter was born in Hawaii and she has the long form, plus she can order copies just like Obama produced, and anyone else can too! This man is a danger to this country and time will tell his intentions against our United States of America. Why won't he produce his college papers? Also, isn't it agains the law to switch names on passports and claim citizenship in another country? Why does Obama continue to get away with pretty much anything he can, and his lies go un-challenged! How could the good people of America elect such a fraud?
His wearing of the flag pin is a disgrace to our proud country. He could not even bear to put his hand over his heart to honor our flag. ...and you people think he is so wonderful??? The truth will come home to roost... I only hope it is not too late for our country. His loyalty truly lies as a Muslim... how dare he travel and disgrace our country and apologize for our great naation!

Ms. E Newman, thank you for your comments and your spelling correction. Of course it is Rev. Wright (that's what happens when I type without my reading glassess completely clean and my fingers work faster than my brain). However, I am not sure why you disapprove of my comments.

Exactly what is a "crock" in your opinion, Ma'am? Please kindly "re-read my initial post" and if you have time, please read my "5" star review of this book, if you like. Ms. Newman, I am trying to present my opinions
"devoid of politics". Of course, I respect your opinions, but attempt to understand mine. You desire for me to
get my facts straight? How so? If you desire to re-read my initial post again, "slowly", you will note I am addressing "both sides" but mostly "one star reviewers". I simply misspelled a man's name and all the rest is my opinion.

I am not a fan or defender of Mr. Obama (or his administration), but I refuse to lower myself to the level of those who oppose "my opinions", solely because they are blinded by their politics. For those who enjoy embracing disrespect, personal insults, hate, immature attacks, name-calling, anti-American views and "racism", I find them to be irresponsible and childish. That is my sole point. I desire and attempt to remain above board... and... attempt to remain street level... rather than remain at the gutter level. Why is that a "crock"? I say, if you must express your opinion(s), do so with "class and character"! Do you still that to be "a crock"?

PS... please see the last word (between great and !), in your ending sentence.

Mr. Becker, thank you for your comments, as well, sir. Yes I have noticed several of the one star reviewers appear not to have read the book, but decide to submit a political diatribe instead of a valid book review.

I have attempted to make my opinions known, to as many of the one star reviews as possible. There is a specific gentleman, who I am maintaining a running conflict with, simply because he has not read the book, but solely desires to debate his political opinions, which of course, are contrary to mine.

On the other hand, the Right criticizes the left as a bunch of "intellectuals" with book sense but no real-world sense. If you write a book about how to have your cake and eat it too, I'll be sure to read it!

Mr. (or Ms.) W. Wilson, I'm sorry but I do not follow your post. I assure you, that you have not heard me refer to anyone as "Obongo". I do not criticize the left as "intellectuals", either, unless in my opinion they act as such. Book sense? Real-world sense? How about just plain old American, "common-sense"? I doubt I'll write a cook book, but if I do, I'll let you know. Thank you for commenting.

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 1, 2010 4:05:20 PM PDT
Of course, you are correct. The problem is, those who disagree with Obama, his policies, his agendas, will defend your right to the end to voice your opinons. Obama, and those who agree and support him, will do all which they can to silence the opposition. Why they seek to silence talk radio, to take control and limit the Internet, declare an odd sort of "war" with Fox news as they are the only TV news group who dares to question him (and they sought to ban Fox from the press pool).
I noted while President Obama proclaims "words matter" and is asking for more subtle speech, he also makes a comment regarding opponents, "if they bring a knife, we'll bring a gun." Like Calderone proclaiming his displeasure of the Arizona law, while Mexico has some of the harshest, most draconian immigration laws, there is much hypocrisy.

Ms. Pulis, thank you for your comments. I agree with you Ma'am. When people provide their opinions respectfully, they are so much more productive. I do not know why the "liberal, extreme far-left wingers"
enjoy to embrace the tactics of personal insults, name-calling, immature attacks and disrespect. Attacking
"the messenger" instead of attacking "the issues and facts" makes no sense to me.

Take care Ma'am...

Mr. Scanlon, unfortunately for you, there are "interested readers", who have followed your posts, with this specifric book review, as well as Ms. Malkin's book (do you remember the "UN-AMERICAN, un-truthful and un-kind" comments you made about Mrs. Malkin?), who just might question and seriously doubt ... "your integrity and credibility"... to be "fair, honest, honorable, balanced, decent, dignified, open-minded and clear-thinking".

Please recognize much of the "hate" you have "seen, read or heard, comes from yourself", in my opinion. Your unsuccessful and feeble attempts to discredit, demean and dehumanize others, with opposing political views, is well known and nothing to be proud of.

Just who are you(?)... "to make judgments" for another human being... if a book is "second rated porn"? Are you an expert in first rated or second rated "porn"? Is there a difference? Mr. Scanlon, I seriously doubt there is anything you can positively teach anyone, but yourself, and you have certainly failed to productively do so. I do hope the midterm elections (in November 2010), and the presidential election (in 2012), does not cause you any heart-ache!

Mr. Scanlon, you unfortunately have a history... of "egging on hate"... "engaging in disrespect"... "embracing name-calling"... and... "employing personal insults", which reflects you are an insignificant, disrespectful, insenstive, weak, immature, intolerant individual, who lacks confidence, (in my humble opinion, of course). "idiot" (referring to Mr. Bruce Becker) or "moron", (your favorite word), simply holds no intellectual or academic validation... with those who have opposing political opinions.

Ms. Pullis has her opinions. You have yours and I have mine. SO WHAT? It appears, Ms. Pullis claim....."those who agree and support him [Obama], will do all which they can to silence the opposition.", is validated because it appears those "who oppose Mr. Obama" are being labeled as "racists". Please review the one star review posted by Mr. Chris L., dated 06 August 2010 for confirmation.

By the way, are you still playing hand-ball with Marine officers? You never told me who won your initial match! How is your Republican sister-in-law? Still driving you insane with common-sense, truth, logic and reason?

First to the most important matter... "I pray and hope your spouse is feeling better". Now to everything else.

Mr. Scanlon, "you" conservative? You're pulling my leg, aren't you? I'm just a left wing zealot, myself, you know! Mr. Scanlon, I would love to say you too have made interesting and valid points as well, but you continue to attempt to do so, with such arrogance and intolerance WHY?

Let's be honest and realistic, "calling people names is not a tactic, I choose to participate in". The name-calling, personal insults, racism and immature attacks are not the swords or shields an intellectual or patriot chooses to wield. There is no honor, dignity, respect or civility in being disrespectful.

So people say stupid things? May I reflect and daresay... "you"... might be one of them. I understand that, but there is nothing you or me can do about that. WHY should you "personally" contribute and engage them or yourself... with such conduct and behavior? WHY should you go along and say stupid things "yourself"? What does that prove? Please always stay above the fray and never go down into the gutter with those who show "no class or character". If you like the gutter, then stay there. If not, come on up and breathe some fresh air.

You can only be "responsible and accountable" for what "you say and do", not anyone else. You lead by personal, professional examples, never by political opinions, views, ideas or thoughts. This is what "politics" does to people. It makes them blinded, bitter, angry, upset, frustrated, ignorant and intolerant of others. That does not make a person appear intelligent... just completely stupid!

In America we are a diverse group of human beings. Everyone has an opinion about something... and... most don't agree with one another. WHY should I disrespect the opinion of another? I may not agree with the opinion, but I have fought for the right so people can agree to disagree... "hopefully respectfully".

In my part of the world... "MUTUAL RESPECT" is the basic foundation and platform that any personal or professional relationship is based upon. Without it, no one can survive. Whether in Japan, China, Korea, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Cambodia, laos or any other Southeast Asian or Asian country. In my part of the world... "your bow (in western circles, your handshake), word and reputation" are all you have... and... defines you... at your best or worst. In my part of the world... without "mutual respect"... you have nothing and you are nothing, plain and simple. You "lose face". In the Far East you are judged by your words, actions, inactions, reactions, behavior and conduct. How you conduct yourself in various personal and professional situations and/or crises, defines your competency and confidence. "Leadership" is defined by personal example at all times!

Your choice of books to read, is your own concern, just as I choose to read the books that I do. Mr. Scanlon, when you personally engage in "hate"... you are what you become... a hateful human being worth nothing. Human beings, say stupid things all the time. SO WHAT? WHY become one of the stupid, insignificant and unimportant people who say stupid things?

I assure you... I DO NOT... agree with anyone (of any political party or idealogy)... who desires to do harm to any other human being. I have had my share of that in Vietnam and so many other places. To wish harm on any human being... is plain stupid and unacceptable! However that same "hate" you say is coming from Mr. Glenn Beck for example, also comes from "the left", in such people as Ed Schultz, Keith Obermann, Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow and others, in my opinion. Hate can be found within the ranks of democrats, liberals, republicans, conservatives, libertarians, left, right and center and any other political group. I do not agree with communists, socialists, marxists, or any anti-American extremists. Do you?

The truth is Mr. Scanlon, you personally do not agree with this specific book or any book, that looks "negatively" upon this current president, his administration or your choice of politics. OK, that's fine, but... calling those who do enjoy such books ridiculous and vile names is extremely stupid. It is a little "patronizing and elitist" on your part. Certainly not an American trait, based on a positive set of values, morals and principles.

Attempting to... "ram and cram your political beliefs... down the throats of others who do not believe as you do", will never work! Ineptly attempting to... "demean, dehumazie and personally insult"... those who have opposing political views will also never work and is just plain anti-AMERICAN.

What you "take seriously", or not, is your prerogative. No one will ever take you seriously Mr. Scanlon, if you continue your personal and political diatribes. Plainly speaking Mr. Scanlon, we don't agree on anything... but calling someone "moron, idiot, or any other phrase"... because you don't agree with them politically... is in my view... childish, immature, pathetic and sad.

Of course, our opinions of Lieutenant Colonel North, are on opposite ends of the spectrum, but that does not surprise me. Did you know the... "peace sign"... is the... "footprint of the American chicken"? Maybe that's why Colonel North was offended when you sent him one for Christmas? Never, ever (please excuse the double megative") get a MARINE on your bad side! You will always lose!

You state when LtCol North was running for public office, there were bumper stickers that said, "I don't vote for felons". Well, I wonder... "what those same people thought of taking orders from a commander-in-chief who was using the Oval office, to engage in sexual encounters with a woman, a young girl, much younger than his wife"? Any problem there? Did you see any bumper stickers reflecting that point of view? Always attempt to be "fair and balanced" Mr. Scanlon.

Glad you're so athletic, wish I were.

Again, our opinions about your logical, reasonable, sensible, educated and intelligent Republican sister-in-law remains the same. I think she's WONDERFUL! It certainly is not easy on her... to be in your presence. But I am quite confidant, she makes your blood pressure go up. Just please keep an eye on that OK? Of course the world will move on despite her, your and my existence Mr. Scanlon. That is why I believe, "life is too short to spend on such silliness", as "politics". FAMILY is what's important, nothing else matters.

Your childish and immature attempts... "at a final jab"... simply and clearly defines you for who and what you are Mr. Scanlon. "You" are not the smartest or brightest. "You"... do not know it all, although you pretend to. "You"... are a person who believes he is important and significant, maybe in your own mind and world. That is again your prerogative, but, those "who are not blinded, dazzled and dazed by your "brilliance", (or lack thereof), can see right through you". "You"... big teddy bear!

Take care.....

Waiting patiently for Mr. Scanlon's response!

Mr. Rhodes, you speak the truth and so do many other Americans (especially after the midterm "shallacking"), who realize this current administration is moving America in a direction of fiscal and ideological concern. Look what's happening now in North Korea, as well as
Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan, not to mention the genuine and sincere troubles we have within our own country with never-ending
governmental spending, goverment intrustion and growth, the decifit and the economy, just to name a few!

Maybe there is... "TRUE HOPE", "HONEST CHANGE", "ACCURATE TRANSPARENCY" and "REAL TRUTH"... coming our way soon!
