By K. Harris HALL OF FAMETOP 100 REVIEWER on February 6, 2013
Just in time for Black History Month, the impressive Scholastic Storybook Treasures collections assembles three of its previously released DVDs for this set commemorating African American Heritage. If you are not familiar with the Scholastic Storybook Treasures series, it might be important to note that these are not really traditional animated features. Instead, these presentations are relatively simple in movement, more akin to a picture book presentation than to a frenetic cartoon. Geared toward the age range of 4-10 (to my mind, these skew a bit to the older side of the spectrum due to subject content), these stories do have the "Read Along" captioning function that allows your kids to follow along as the narrator relays the various tales. I'm a big fan of anything geared toward kids that promotes reading, so this is a big plus in my book!

The three discs are individually packaged and encased in a slip cover for approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes of storytelling (some interviews are extra). It's a great way to get several selections at a greater value. Some of the narration is provided by familiar voices including Michael Clarke Duncan, Samuel Jackson, and James Earl Jones. All in all, there are thirteen individual stories provided.

Here's a breakdown:

Disc One (with an emphasis on History):
1) March On!
