spoiler alert****************

Ashley and two people were ever meant to be together these two fit the bill. In Book 1 I really didn't pay much attention to them because I was totally obsessed with Max and Janie. Now I must re-read Book 1!!!

Not to sound like a particular friend but could Ryan be any more perfect?!!! Even in his jealous rants you couldn't help but love that boy. Leo and Ryan together were such amazing friends and Leo was a brother every girl should have. I felt his fate was eminent from the start though and kept waiting for the terrible moment to happen. In Leo's death we see the unraveling of these two young lovers.

Ashley transforms into someone unrecognizable and Ryan becomes the man he was always meant to be. Apart they go on with their lives but you know their souls are so very connected through it all. All in good time they say...well, I was truly agonizing about how much time these two were wasting trying to heal their wounds.

Once he showed up and sparks flew I had hope they would just need a moment or two ...but noooo...they needed to twist my heart every which way, for years it seemed, before actually seeing the light. As Ryan said they took the scenic route...yea through the damned Grand Canyon !!!

Ashley needed a major wake up call and I wished she came clean with Janie and Lyla sooner because their advise seemed to finally penetrate her stubborn skull. Ryan and Lyla's talk was amazing, straight and to the point...written so "Lyla-like". Lyla is still my favorite character and I was so happy she played a big role in their relationship. Lyla needs her HEA please!!!

Ryan and Ashley deserved their happy ending as do all these mysterious, fun and lovable characters who became family at Danny's.

Storm Front
After Thursday Nights I've been impatiently awaiting a return to Charistown. It was clear that there was more than a small storm brewing at the end of that debut. I was drawn to Ashley and Ryan early on and really longed to figure out what was actually going on between them. They had a familiarity and a spark that couldn't be denied but like all of Lisa's characters they only reveal themselves when they are good and ready.

Storm Front is a tour de force. It really does feel like a hurricane reading it. I had moments of sweet smiles, giggles, joy, laughter and lots of moments of tears, crying, frustration and more than a scene or two left me gutted. From the beginning sweet and soft to the tragic and back again Lisa lets the story unfold in its own time. I WANTED TO STRANGLE HER AT TIMES FOR ALLOWING ME TO RELAX WITH HOPE. It seems these two are caught in a storm they can't outrun and it is anyone's guess if they'll be able to weather it together and come out the other side. Lisa's writing is crisp and clean and her characters are real and raw. She builds the story so that you feel comfortable but also holds just enough back to keep you on the edge. The men of Charistown, and the women for that matter, are dirty talking, hard loving, all in people. They have created a family for themselves and in doing so along the way always seem to find a way to follow their hearts.

The comedic moments are well placed and the humor is as relatable as the characters themselves~ "I'm going to set you up for success here, Ry, and just tell you." ~'ll be praying for just bitchy." ~ "Here's to booze to make us chatty, instead of food that makes us fatty."

I could go on forever and ever talking about this gang. I love them all for different reasons.

Storm Front, the second novel in Lisa N. Paul’s Charistown Series, is a thoroughly satisfying read from start to finish and one of my favorite novels in 2014. I’ve been in somewhat of a book rut lately, reading a lot of really good books, but nothing phenomenal enough to leave me with a book hangover. It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes you come across a novel that fits your mood perfectly. A novel whose story seeps into your soul, makes an impression on your heart, and leaves you in a state of bliss. For me, Storm Front is that novel.

The story line follows Ryan and Ashley, childhood friends whose relationship blossomed into love only to be destroyed in the wake of a hurricane. Years later, they find themselves thrown together again and must sort through the wreckage of the past to determine if they can salvage a future together. Written in both the past and present, the past chapters build the foundation of Ashley and Ryan’s connection and characters, while the present unveils how much has changed over time. The plot unfolds as past catches up to present, culminating in read that is captivating from cover to cover.

Ashley’s tragic adolescent past has broken her. As an adult she’s a fiery vixen who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. This is a stark contrast against the straight-laced teenager she once was. I loved her character’s depth. The guilt, anger, shame, passion, selflessness, and love – it’s both heartbreaking and encouraging. Ashley struggles against the weight of her past and adapts as best she can, but eventually she must face her demons.

Like Ashley, Ryan struggles with the burden of past choices. I loved his character for his resolve and determination. Not to mention his undeniable sex appeal and general hotness.
