I could find nothing wrong with it, so the only reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is that I personally struggle with a viewpoint character who kills so mercilessly. I have a ton of friends who'd seek it out for that reason alone. So as long as you know what you're getting into this book will knock your socks off.
I was warned there is some graphic stuff in here, and there is. It actually made me a little squeamish. That said, I found the scenes very well written even if I had to read them with one eye closed.
The protagonist is an everyday person with a haunted past who kills pretty ruthlessly. This would be hard to swallow were it not for the glimpses into her background that we are shown. This book definitely made me look at real people I pass in the supermarket or on the playground in a different way. We all have pasts and secrets. Some just hide it better than others.
A good book, especially if you love this genre. I will be reading more of P.J. Cowan in the future.
