What an exciting series! As a 5th grade teacher this is my favorite read aloud! My students are enthralled with Roland Smith's writing and are constantly on the edge of their seats. They beg me to read this series daily! The characters are so relatable and endearing. There is even a character we loved to hate (Richard, you know who you are). We were lucky enough to win an advanced copy of Eruption on Roland Smith's website and have enjoyed every second of it! The drama, excitement and even sadness have drawn even my reluctant readers in. My students recently had to choose an author to study and almost my entire class chose Roland Smith! I recommend this series to 4th graders and up. Boys, especially those reluctant to read will really enjoy this book. There are several strong female characters also, so girls will love it too! I am sad this series is over and my students have their fingers crossed that maybe, just maybe, this book will be turned into an amazing movie!

My 8 year old son and I have enjoyed the entire trilogy, and "Eruption" was a great ending! In fact, I read the whole book myself the night we got it after he went to bed. Very exciting, lots of twists and turns, and good action. We loved the animal elements, everything from a cute poodle to an escaped tiger. The reading level is more for that of an upper elementary to junior high student, but definitely a book that parents of younger kids can read to them.

The third book in the Storm Runners trilogy has a new setting, but the man v. nature conflict continues and is as engaging as the battle against the hurricane. Loose circus animals continue to be a problem for our plucky protagonist, and reluctant readers will enjoy this adventure as much as the previous two.

I buy this author for my personal library at school, and the boys especially love him. This series actually turned one of my non-readers into a reader, so I had to buy the last one. It could have been a little better -- if it had been longer! It was exciting and had a more than satisfactory ending.

I chose this rating because I love the way the author added a lot of action, conflicts, and a really good resolution. I didn't like how the volcano never erupted. I would recommend this book to 4-5th graders.

OMG! I loved this book as much, if not more than the last two and I enjoyed and read it just as fast!! I sure hope Jeff Probst sits down to write some more like these, either by himself or with whoever, because I'm sure they'll be just as GREAT!!!!

Chase, Nicole and Rashawn have barely survived the category-five hurricane, but they have no time to dwell on their experiences. Another emergency is taking place on the other side of the continent; this time, it's earthquakes. Chase's dad's partner, Tomás, has family who live in the heart of the new disaster area, and Nicole's family's traveling circus is there for a performance as well, placing all in extreme danger. After tying up some loose ends at the Rossi Brothers' Circus home base, including getting the animals in safe containment, the next stop is Mexico.
While Rashawn decides to stay in Florida with her reunited family to help with the circus animals, Nicole and Chase travel with his dad and Tomás, along with cameraman Mark and reporter Cindy, down into the disaster area. Nicole is terribly worried about her mom and sister who are with the rest of the family circus, and there has been no word from them or Tomás' family. To cover more ground, our heroes break into two groups: Chase, Tomás and Cindy set out to find Tomás' family, while Chase's dad, Nicole and Mark search for the circus folk. But the going is tough for each group, with aftershocks, broken bridges and landslides blocking the roads.

As the rescuers inch closer to their targets, they begin finding more signs, like the tiny performing poodle stranded on the road, and the wreckage of the trucks carrying the circus cats with the horrifying remains of 10 dead animals. But the circus has 11 big cats, meaning one of the tigers has escaped and is roaming the jungle, scared, disoriented and hungry. And, as if they need another challenge, a huge, temperamental volcano is spitting ash and smoke, threatening to erupt.
