About the Author
Sarah Johnson is a freelance writer and longtime lover of the written word. Her love of the classics began early, with Jane Austen becoming a clear favorite by her early teen years. When the world of fan fiction was introduced to her, she was happy to find so many wonderful stories based on the dearly loved characters. It was a few years before a new writers challenge, posted at one of the Jane Austen Fan Fiction forums, drew her to put pen to paper and begin creating the stories that have always unfolded in her mind. What began as a picture has become a muse that will not stop forming ideas for more stories. After fifteen years of military life, she and her husband, along with their six children, have now settled in Texas, where she continues to write of an era gone by and of characters that will forever live in the hearts of Jane Austen’s admirers.

I was looking for something short to read and having bought 4 of this author's book on sale just yesterday, decided to choose one of hers. Kissing games - now are we going to step outside the boundaries of propriety? I was curious to read if this was stretched beyond acceptable variations for me (and others) in the JAFF community.
I have to say that this author did an exemplary job here and created a wonderfully sweet rendition. If you are a stickler about adhering to canon then this is not your cup of tea. As Sophia said in her review the setting here is placed in time before revelations from Wickham or even his appearance occur and the Netherfield party has not left for London. Instead the author has Elizabeth determined to accompany Jane to the neighboring estate when Caroline and Louisa invite Jane. Lydia, in this tale being the sneakiest of busy bodies, decides to follow them, hoping to hear or learn of some juicy development. But a mile before the ladies arrive at their destination Mother Nature prevents any further progress with heavy snowfall and a weakening Jane.
The events with the ladies snowed in an abandoned renter's cottage and with the two gentlemen finally locating them the next day help to forward the understanding between certain players. Not to worry, games played are innocent enough but just perfect to uncover some truths about behaviors, feelings and even truths about arrivals in Meryton. This was played out so inventively, so creatively - well done.
And as the couples finally are able to leave the cottage after being stormed in for two nights they return to Netherfield and we get some further developments which lead to our happy ending.
This is only 76 pages in the paperback version but I did not feel that it was rushed nor that it did not reach completion satisfactorily. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Simple story with a teasing twist. Simple but intriguing. Not so heavy on stuffy English manners. PLAYFULLY written
