I wasn’t going to buy these books. It didn’t sound like anything that I would like. I like BDSM, but the thought of being a slave was a little too much for me. But, I finally broke down and bought them and was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it is consensual non-consensual. What that means is that L consents to whatever the trainers would like to do to her. Once she said yes, she lost all her rights. Still, that was a hard concept for me. But, I persevered and it was a really good book. This book covers the time it takes for her to be trained, there is some reminiscing about how L and Trey met. There are lots of spankings and punishments and I always enjoy reading about that.. I really do recommend this book.
Enlightenment: Story of L Book 2 by L.A. Cloutier
This story is a little different from the first. We see how L is treated by Trey. Mostly as a possession. While she was in training, he gave notice for her at her job, he emptied out her apartment and put what HE thought she didn’t need in storage, he cancelled her credit cards, he got rid of her cell phone. He wanted her dependent on him. L isn’t happy about it, but she accepts it. Trey and Clay have also come up with a way for both of them to have her. L lives with Trey, but sends her to Clay when she needs to be punished. And the punishments are impressive! I had a harder time with this story because L is a possession. Not my cup of tea. But, that is a personal problem, not a problem with the story. It is well-written and flows well. So, I do recommend this book so that you can understand the last one!
Redemption: Story of L Book 3 by L.A. Cloutier
This is the last book in the Story of L. We start with L being devastated because Trey has betrayed her. She has been staying with Clay while Trey is away on business. Then, she finds out that Trey has stolen her identity and has her involved in his embezzlement of the company he works for. So, L feels lost. She thinks that she no longer wants to be a slave and wants to be released from her contract. But, Clay has feelings for her and wants to keep her. Everything does work out, but I was a little surprised at the ending. This was an excellent series!
Each book seems to have it's own flavor. In Odyssey is so very hot and seems to very much about the sex. You seem to be unsure who to trust and what is driving the characters. You do see that L is coming to grips with her own feelings through it all. In Enlightenment - Confusion seems to reign supreme throughout the book. We see that Trey and L have moved along in their relationship and it seems so much has happened to L without her truly understanding what is going on. And then Clay seems to pop up and you just not sure what is happening until the very end. Which leads right into Redemption we move from the physical through the mental and now its time to face the emotional aspect of the lifestyle. We see that L is much stronger than we thought. We get to really met lots of great side characters and so many sweet surprises await the reader of this story.
