Another 5 star read without a doubt, though I will warn readers that you won't get all your questions answered from the end of Arturo. I saw the author mention that we will return to Arturo and Guinie in the 5th book of the series, though there are some sightings within this one, and I imagine there will be in Perkins' and Tristan's tales. At first this may seem slightly disappointing, put that aside and get lost in Lansing. I think you will find, as I did, that you will find every bit as in love with him as you did with Arturo.
Lansing is known as "The Lady Killer", and it is easy to see how that happened as we journey into his heart and soul. Maybe all his kindred spirits are simply biding time until "the one" crosses his path. And just maybe "the one" could be someone other that who he has convinced himself was "the one." Get swept up in his discoveries about himself and the women in his life and all the messes he gets himself into over them.
Again, LB brings the King Arthur story seamlessly into the present. There is so much going on here, and I always try to avoid spoilers, but sink into this one when you don't have to be up the next morning, I found it impossible to put down and am already greedily awaiting the next release on June 26 (which happens to be my birthday - happy birthday to me!)
Again, for mature audiences only, for sexual situations. If you liked Arturo, you will love Lansing every bit as much.
I am a HUGE fan of LB. I devour everything she writes. What I love most about her books is the maturity of her writing. She doesn't need to drop the F bomb every other word to seem gritty. She doesn't use sex to fill the book. She writes amazing stories that are hot and gritty while being beautifully written. This book is yet another story that I just couldn't put down. Her characters are complex and totally flawed but completely loveable in their hott mess.
SO this book picks up after Arturo is missing!!! We dont know where he is and we are all wondering what is gonna happen. Guinne and Lansing have this inexplainable chemistry and draw to each other. Lansing has loved her for years and is really wanting to BE the one for her. On top of this crazy love for Guinne, he is dating Layne who we know has loved him from afar like he has Guinne. He is also spending time with Elaine who is in crazy mad love with him. It seems everyone sees that a great guy he is but himself. He is so caught up with Guinne that he cant see anyone. When Lila enters his life, she calls him on his crap but still respects him for his choices even if they are not good ones.
I was sooo glad to see the two of them bonding but getting increasingly annoyed with Guinne expecially after she let her and Lansings secret out at a party. And then there is the Arturo issue....what the heck is going on. He is alive but hiding out and watching everyone. He sees what is going on with Guinne and Lansing but also with Lansing and Lila.
I am so excited to read Perks book and maybe get some more insight to what the heck is glong on inside Arturo's mind and why he is still hiding from his friends and family.
The Story of Lansing Lotte picks up right after the first one finishes. It is told primarily in Lansing's POV but every now and then we get someone elses. I liked getting into his head and learning his thoughts on all that he didn't say. He is a very private person, even though he is in the public eye. He has his brothers, his band, The Nights and that is about it for his close friends. A few flashbacks in time solidified this point and how much his brothers mean to him. He does, however, have a revolving door of ladies all vying for his attention. This leads to the introduction of a few new characters in this book and at first it was a bit hard to keep up. However, as the story progresses and the intensity builds it was much easier to discern who was who.
I enjoyed Lansing's journey. He was torn between his missed opportunity and what he didn't think he could have. I loved and hated all of the back and forth. He put himself and a few others through some unnecessary drama with his actions. There were a few moments that had me holding my breath too. Thankfully, he came to his senses and made his choice, the right one, in my opinion. This woman brought out a side to Lansing that I hadn't seen before. A softer, protective and possessive side. He pulled out all the stops to prove his dedication to her and the future he wanted with her (sorry I'm not spilling the beans on who he chooses).
I also liked getting glimpses of Arturo at various points throughout the story.Read more ›
