Poor and: the word everyone takes for granted. So tiny, so common, so easily overlooked. Yet if it weren’t for and, so much would fall apart! Who knew such a little word could make such a big difference?

When an array of opinionated shapes just can’t find common ground, AND comes to the rescue. AND is the link that helps each pair of shapes overcome their differences, teaming up to create something entirely new. Bouncy rhyming text and colorful paintings come together in a fable that will prompt children to look for the unexpected connections all around them.

Singer/songwriter Carrie Newcomer has recorded an original song based on the story, available to readers as a bonus download.

This is such a delightful book. It teaches great lessons with easily understood words and pictures. Children will love it, as will their parents.

Sandy Eisenberg Sasso is well-known for her thought-provoking, beautifully told stories related to the bible and matters of faith. Although "The Story of And" is not an overtly religious story, its message aligns well with the values of Sasso's own faith tradition, Judaism, as well as the broad scope of religious paths. What makes this book a treasure is that it can also speak to those who claim no faith tradition. It is a marvelous metaphor about how the world's diverse peoples can connect and become more than they are individually. While most of the Western perspective is based on an either/or way of seeing life, Sasso offers the more helpful and hopeful view of "and. . . and . . . and . . . For together humans are stronger and can make the world a place in which all of creation can experience "wholeness."

Beautiful illustrations accompany this sweet story about the power of friendship and allowing differences to make us stronger united together. Simple text that rhymes and flows well. A nice read for preschool story time with a shape or friendship theme.

The Story of AND is more than a story about joining ideas together and creating new items. It's deeper meaning celebrates determination and following one's dream. This is a book for all ages.

Thank you @netgalley for the ARC. Very sweet book. It would go nicely with our unit on geometry as well as one on kindness and empathy. Love it!

This book has a theme that working together is better. But, it shows it with various shapes and how they can form an entirely new object. It’s definitely a unique way to teach social skills.
