My family and I are big fans of the Toy Story films, so when we spotted this flying Buzz Lightyear, we snapped it up. We followed the instructions and waited for a day without wind, then took Buzz out for a flight on a full-size football field. The pros: (1) Buzz charges fast -- attach him to the charger for ten seconds and he's ready to rock; (2) He looks great when he's in the air. The cons: (1) The trick is getting him to stay in the air. Despite carefully following the instructions, we were only able to get one long flight out of him. Most of the time, he crashed within 10 seconds of launch. The way it works is, you charge him, then remove him from the base. His propellers (one located on each wing) spin and you throw him like a paper airplane. 90% of the time, he quickly crashed; (2) Buzz is fragile. He's made from styrofoam and his wings bend easily. If they bend, the instructions note that he won't fly well. We're speaking from experience when we say, this is true; (3) Buzz hurts. If the plastic propellers brush your fingers when you launch him, OUCH! My 9-year-old daughter got clipped a few times when she threw him. The propellers didn't break the skin, but she quickly decided that she wanted nothing more to do with the toy. The fact that we couldn't get him to stay in the air probably contributed to this outcome. Overall, Buzz was a major disappointment. We did get one long, sensational flight out of him (he flew from one end of the 100-yard football field to the other, hence the two star rating instead of one star), but this was hardly sufficient given that we tried to fly him for over an hour. It's possible a gifted paper-airplane-flying adult will do well with him, but the rest of us -- particularly parents -- should stir clear.

This toy has already fallen apart and we gave it to our son yesterday, it is made of strofoam. His legs and 1 arm has fallen off. He loves the toy but by this time next week we may just have buzz's head left. He flies okay.... not worth the money.

I found this on clearance at a local department store for under $10 and snatched it up thinking it was a good bargain. The toy advertises itself as being able to fly a total of 300 feet, which is true as long as you throw it about 20 times. 95% of the time Buzz will go up and down and crash hard into the ground within a few seconds. Occasionally you can get a good throw in and watch him sail for a good distance, but by that time you'll be so frustrated with the toy it will hardly be worth it.

I read the other reviews and was not surprised when this thing did not really work. The only reason I bought it was because a "buzz light year that flies" was something my five year old (turned five in Dec.) specifically asked for multiple times for Christmas. This thing is ridiculously over priced for a Styrofoam buzz that doesn't fly. Maybe for an older kid with a bit more patience, it would be worth $10...maybe! Didn't even get mad at the dog who chewed it to bits a few hours after it was left outside.

My son got this flying buzz light year as a b-day gift when he turned 4. We flew buzz numerous times in a very large open field. I was extremely excited about how far this toy was able to fly. Yes there were a handful of crashes, but I quickly realized that you have to adjust the propellers after every flight due to the crash landings. I read all the reviews about this toy and it's sad to hear that just about everyone seemed to not like it. A little adjustment here and there would have solved everything. The toy is made of styrofoam, which makes it very fragile, but that's expected in a toy that is mean to fly! I can honestly say we had at least 30-40 good flights out of it before the wing broke. Not to mention changing the batteries once. My two kids absolutely loved it and want another one which I'm about to order from Amazon.com. I highly recommend this toy. Just make sure the propellers are aligned straight and throw buzz lightly. He'll take cared the rest. Don't get discourage from a crash landing, it's not a flawless toy.

I bought this on clearance for $12 and it's not even worth $2. The tail broke taking it out of the pkg, it's extrememly flimsy and can't hold up to kids grabbing it/fighting over it - as to whose turn it is.
Not a good design at all. Sometimes i don't think that they test what they are putting out, just slap the character on it and it will sell. Anyone who buys this will be disappointed.

Propeller was broken when removed from box so grandson wasn't able to fly Buzz and was very disappointed. He runs through the house pretending like he flies, but it just isn't the same.

the only 'toy' my son asked for--so I found it for him. I was so excited to get it. I spent $49.99 but figured it was well worth it. I opened it and thought it was a joke...like somebody had put a fake toy in there. I can't believe the crappy quality. looks like a dollar store toy...is that a straw on it?? so disgusted and disappointed.
