I eagerly anticipated my StoryHow Cards after listening to a conversation between the guys behind StoryU.net and StoryHow.com, Michael and Ron. Ron is an engineer and a storyteller. I am an engineering storyteller. I knew that an engineer would break down the process, reverse engineer it, until things were clear and easy.
I carry them everywhere with me, and I love them! I used them on one video story about a GE Machinist/programmer, and it cut my production time down by 75%. I have only used the cards alone so far, and look forward to using them in a group.
The deck is modeled after a real deck of cards, they feel slick and beautiful in your hands. There are four suits in great colors and they come in a nice box, just like cards. There are 8 cards with white backs, they are the story starter set. I add in the Technique -"Big Idea" to the starter cards. I then add more cards that remind me of my story to the core deck. Then, I re-read the bottom of each card until my ideas start to solidify and form an outline.
The cards still take work and time, there is a lot of content, but they are like a friend, there to help.
Ron is supportive and giving too. He will answer your questions.
In full disclosure I've known Ron for years and can attest that he is a master storyteller, published in many mediums and has also led social media at companies such as Epson. This is a great toolkit for creating compelling corporate communications.
If your goal is to tell better stories about your product, your company, and/or yourself and you wish to learn how to do so from a proven storyteller then Ron Ploof's StoryHow Pitch Deck is well worth the modest investment.
