I loved this book. I had no idea how to go about talking with my 8 year old son about sex, but now I do. And I realize that I should have already started long ago. I love that the authors' deep Christian convictions come across on every page. Yet, I don't agree with everything they recommend -- like immediately giving a candid answer to a question your child asks you about sex, even in a public place. I plan on telling my son that I will answer that question as soon as we get home (or somewhere else private) since it has to do with people's "private parts".

After reading this book, I skimmed through another book on the subject by another Christian author, but I did not pick up those same convictions from that author. However, that other book had a section on masturbation and on "Am I Gay", and I realized I would have liked to have read the McDowells' take on these issues. Anyway, overall, I highly recommend this book.

We are teaching our children that Abstinence until marriage is the only way to have a fulfilling, guilt free, disease free, two-become-one we’ve only just begun exciting journey. Since we live in a culture where the topic of sex is prolific, we do want the kids to be aware of the world we can make for ourselves when we misuse the beauty of sex and more importantly another human being.

This book is very basic. If you are already talking to your kids and being proactive, you may find you are doing a lot of what they recommend already. I was hoping for a more biblical take being from Josh McDowell and it just wasn't there. Lots of quotes from people and organizations that do nothing to enhance the book.
