Since I bought this as the required text for a strategic management class, it's not like I evaluated options and made an informed purchase decision, but:

* The book does a significantly better job of introducing, explaining, and diagramming analytical concepts than the other textbooks I've seen used for this course.

* It includes a lot of cases, as it should. About 2/3 of the cases are great; the other 1/3 are either too complex for an undergraduate curriculum (conglomerate-level corporate strategy) or don't include enough conflict (The IKEA case, for example, could be titled IKEA: How To Do Everything Really Well).

* It loses a star for the atrocious editing. Numerous typos, partially edited sentences, than/then your/you're errors, etc. make the book seem amateurish despite its quality content.

I paid about $8 for this "used book". It stated that there were highlight marks or writing on pages. I looked through it as soon as I received it, which was probably not even a week after ordering, and it is in excellent condition. I'm glad I didn't purchase it at our bookstore for over $100!!

First of all, there are two different editions of the book that have the same exact covers and titles and authors, but are completely different. I accidentally bought the wrong one and didn't figure it out until I couldn't find what the instructor was talking about on page 220. When I did obtain the correct version with many case studies in the back appendixes, there were lots of typos and grammatical errors that made some of the examples confusing. The only reason I'm giving the book 2 starts instead of 1 is that the examples were pretty interesting.

I bought this book for a summer online course and had to read it in the space of five weeks, which was challenging, but not as difficult as it could have been. (It is about 450 pages of text not including the case studies.) Fortunately the book is fairly well-presented, useful, and current. The only excelption to that statement is that, as noted by an earlier reviewer, the frequency of typographical errors is simply not acceptable for a college-level textbook. The preface to the book lists two full pages of university professors who supposedly reviewed the book before publication. Assuming they actually opened the book before cashing their $200 checks, you would have thought that one of them would have noticed this many grammatical and typographical errors.

I choose this rating because the seller and book was really great. I enjoy this book for school and for my personal business. This book has the propensity to get the reader involved in management as well as running people in their business. If you are looking for a new style of management or you need this book for school, you will not regret purchasing this text book.

I bought this book and in a few days I have it! The cost was a bargain! I love Amazon, and wish that many businesses, including my small business of children's books could learn and grow as Amazon. Congratulation to the team and Mr. Jeff Bezos.
