Product Description

Strathwood's anti-gravity recliner is designed to provide the same weightless, floating sensations NASA astronauts experience in a gravity-free environment. These reclined, "weightless" positions raise legs, thereby reducing pressure on the spine and relieving muscle tension. Due to a unique locking system, the recliner adjusts to offer infinite back and foot positions. Adding comfort to the chair is a removable pillow to serve as a headrest or lumbar support. Best of all, take the chair absolutely anywhere. It folds as compactly as standard lounge chairs.

Bungee cords through metal grommets secure the ultra-durable outdoor fabric seat to its lightweight, powder-coated steel frame and give the chair its renowned suspension seating. The body of the chair is a polyester yarn with a resin coating, woven into very durable and elastic fabric. The arms are made of a hard plastic for durability. Though the steel seat frame resists rust and corrosion and is powder coated to protect it from weathering, the recliner is not meant to be left outdoors year round in all weather. The recliner is designed to be very easy to set up and take down for storing.

Able to hold up to 250 pounds, the recliner measures 63.8 inches long by 26.8 inches wide by 29.3 inches high when opened and 36 inches long by 26.8 inches wide by 5.7 inches high when closed. It weighs 17.82 pounds and is available in a wide variety of colors for easy accessorizing. Strathwood also offers a variety of anti-gravity and canopy style chairs to accessorize with this one for outdoor enjoyment.

Strathwood furniture has quality, ease of use, and casual elegance at its core. Each piece is rigorously tested for durability, and assembly instructions have been standardized for simplicity from start to finish. Strathwood furniture is sleekly designed, handsomely finished, and built to last. This classic style and reliable craftsmanship will weather ever-changing trends and regular use for years to come.

It is value for your money. The chair is very comfortable and reclines as expected. The only problem was it came without instructions. The shipping box looked like it had to fight a cyclone.
You have to look for the small circular ring under the armrest to adjust the recliner and lock it by lifting it up when the desired position is attained.
Not as great as the 300$ recliners. But definitely worth 60$.

These chairs only made it through one summer because the bungee cords that held the seats to the steel frames disintegrated during winter storage. When I called customer service to report the problem, I was told that all of the cording is meant to be replaced each year, which would have been a very difficult if not impossible task. In the end, the chairs weren't that comfortable making them one of our more disappointing purchases.

Strathwood makes a version of these comfortable chairs but they tweaked the original version in ways that make it difficult to love. First, I have to really push back on it to get it to recline, second, one of the arm-rest locks does not lock and the other is difficult to lock and finally the head cushion is attached with thin elastic that will stretch and slide down within weeks (I drilled and screwed mine in place). Best bet: buy one you can test in a store, often they are cheaper.

We boutht two of these chairs last summer. We hung them up in the garage for the fall/winter. We just took them down to put back out on the desk and could not be more disappointed. The frames are full of rust.... each screwhead, every place the 'fabric' is connected to the frame - loaded with rust! The frames are pitted and the bottom line is they look awful! I tried cleaning them and the rust stains came off the plastic arm rests, but not the frame itself. These chairs should still look new - (we are in our 50's and no kids) we take very good care of our house/deck furniture etc. We recently gave up our Telescope set after 10 years (kept and stored the same way) and it still looked GREAT. Now we need to purchase two new chairs from somewhere else.

I'm sorry I bought this:
1. RUSTS: Somehow water gets into the tubes when it rains. A brown mucky rusty water poured out when I moved the chair some time afterward. Happens after every good rain
2. The material fades in the sun.
3. The elastic holding the headrest completely fails and it just sinks to the bottom.
4. UNCOMFORTABLE: unless you like to rest your calves on a metal bar. Also, poor back support. I usually brought a pillow out to use it.
5. How do you get rid of something like this? I think I'll just chuck it off my balcony. Otherwise it'll get rusty water all over my house.

This same model or something close enough so I can't see the difference is sold by a dozen different companies for some pretty different prices. Is there a giant factory in China that just stamps a different name on the box?

This is a trick for grill owners that also works well on this unit.

My grill has lasted years as a result of the trick, so it works, but it is debatable that you should have to do this with an "outdoor" recliner. In all fairness, the description does state " the recliner is not meant to be left outdoors year round in all weather". The thought is you will put it away when done, and not too many people will recline in rain and snow.

You should also realize that the chair is a reclining chair and is relatively light weight. It will blow away in a strong storm. My deck chairs are quite heavy in comparison. So, I would not leave this out intentionally.

However, if you are like me, you occasionally forget. And the next thing you know, the chair is drenched by a thunderstorm.

So, apply the grill trick. Apply a bit of petroleum jelly to the joints where they move. It helps make them move more smoothly and it protects them from water. WD40 is a cleaner faster trick also used on grills. I use the petroleum jelly trick on screws on my grill and not one has rusted. I use the WD40 on the surface periodically and that works remarkably as well.

I have accidentally left the chair out in rain several times over the last two months and there is not a single sign of rust.

If you do leave it in the rain and have not applied the trick above, as soon as you can, spray it down with clean water from your hose and leave it in the sun to dry. If your tap water is heavily mineralized, though, this may not help for long.

I want to thank those that posted reviews warning me so I could deal with the problem.

And I want to say, this is an incredibly comfortable chair.

I bought this chair as an early gift for Mother's Day after combing through the reviews and deciding that there was a good quality-to-cost ratio. I have not been disappointed so far, granted it's only been three weeks. At this point, we plan on buying one more. Here is a quick summary of what we think so far...

PROS
- looks good, attractive color overall, the fabric material looks nice
- folds and unfolds surprisingly easily and smoothly
- size is a good fit for folks from 240 lbs. and 6 feet tall down to kids's sizes
- the chair seems very solid and stable
- adjustable pillow is useful
- the chair is *very* comfortable, probably the best of any lightweight, folding chair we've ever tried

CON
- having read the reviews I knew to expect this, but we are not storing the chair outside; it goes to be used and comes back in with us when we're done

Like many things in life, what individuals find comfortable, convenient, quality made, etc. varies widely. I can only offer my subjective opinion here - I hope it helps!
