However, I have had some issues with this bench. First of all, it was not packaged very well. Some of the pieces rubbed together in the box, so if you look closely, you will find some scrapes and nicks in the wood. If you are very detail oriented, this will bug you, but if you don't look too closely, it's not an issue. Secondly, this should have been easy to assemble. There were only 4 pieces of bench along with 8 screws. However, one of the pegs didn't line up quite right with the peg hole. I finally managed to get it set up, but it seemed harder than it needed to be.
This bench is not the most comfortable to sit on, but I guess you aren't going to get too much comfort out of a wooden bench.
Edit: I raised my rating on this bench because it has held up so well. It has been sitting outside year round (under my covered porch which protects it somewhat from the elements) and it still looks great, not faded or anything. I get a lot of compliments on the bench too, so I like it more the longer I have had it.
After a bit of on-line research I decided on the Strathwood All-Weather 3-Seater Bench. I ordered two and, like always, they came in right away. Upon opening the box it seemed that big and heavy furniture with so many interlocking pieces (I refer here to the already installed slats) should have been packed a bit more solidly. That said, however, I felt fortunate as the bench itself was in good shape with no missing hardware.
The execution of putting the bench together was easy as everything lined up, there were the proper number of bolts, and the included allen wrench worked well. So far so good, but how did it look? Well, the finish was as good as I had hoped for and the design had generous length in the seat slats and a slightly raked backward slant to the back. I cannot stress how important these two features are...They determine the comfort of the seating and I think the Strathwood has it right as it is comfortable to the point of not requiring seat or back cushioning. The thickness of the wood, though not as robust as those unbelievably expensive "Smith & Hawken" (retail store) type benches is more than adequate if not as indestructible.
The Strathwood 3-Seater Bench is, in my opinion, a "high-value" buy in outdoor seating.Read more ›
UPDATE: I have bought the Strathwood bench cushion and, the 16 inch pillows to complete the bench set. I loved this bench before I got the cushion for it, I am absolutely crazy about it now that it's completely dressed! This bench is sturdy, comfy and beautiful! So far everyone that has seen it wants to sleep on it, my balcony is now a very classy place to relax. Along with the companion Strathwood arm chairs and bistro table, my balcony is now my favorite room in my house. My bench is amazing, and Amazon comes through again...as always!

A year later and this bench is still AWESOME! I'm no Barbie doll, and this bench is still Very sturdy, Very strong, and Very comfortable. I've seen other reviews that say there is some give in the middle when sat on, or there has been "creaking" noises, but I've never had that issue and after a year of use even with the seat cushion and pillows the bench is still holding up beautifully. My balcony is covered, but I have left this bench outside since bought, and I've used wood oil on it about once every six months. This bench was a fabulous buy, my balcony looks great, and this bench along with cushions and pillows is withstanding the test of time.

Well built, but Definitely does not weather well, ie greys. But not sure any wood really does stay prettyPublished 3 months ago by A. Wineland
It's been around a couple of years, but it didn't hold up. the frame split and I fell throuh it. Looks like teak, much lighter in weight and durability.Published 6 months ago by jl
4 years in the weather and it's holding up well. One of the slats in the seat broke under normal use--probably not suitable for people over 250 lbs.Published 7 months ago by Daniel Von Kohorn
