I pre-ordered this book because I was excited to read it. I like Shirley Strawberry, but this was an elementary effort at best. The content was good and real, but I felt that everything was cut short. This was only a teaser. This book is only 135 pages, with the last 15 or so being dedicated to Strawberry Letters. For a mature woman, I expected the writing style to be different. I felt at times that I was reading a children's book. Overall, the advise in this book was worthwhile, but Shirley's personality didn't shine throught...or maybe it did.

Save your money

What a waste of money and time. I should have followed my first mind and not purchased this book.
- What could a women who is not married tell me about being married?
- What can a women who is not raising her own child, tell me about raising mine?
- What can a women who is not in a relationship and hasn't been in over 10 years, tell me about keeping a good relationship? Don't do it people, save your money and purchase SuperRich by Russell Simmons instead!!!

Good try Shirley, but keep your day job.

Sometimes, the one thing a person needs to fix an issue…is the truth. Well, this book of Strawberry Letters is full of truths. Hard ones that might feel like bitter pills to swallow, but Shirley's poise and gentle delivery makes truth sort of feel like an aunty consoling, while rubbing your back. This is a reference guide, to keep handy for those temporary lapses of common sense. Sweet..

This book has very little advice in it. It turned out to be an entire book giving a little history about the author. After reading this book I have little respect for the author, S. Strawberry because she goes on and on referring to herself as "a single mother". When in fact, she admits in the book that 1) she's divorced (so the child DOES have a father in the picture) and 2) HER MOTHER is raising her child in another state! So she isn't even taking care of her own child. The grandmother (her mother) took the child to another state and has been raising her. Yet Shirley keeps stating over and over about how she's a "single mother" and how hard it is blah blah when she isn't even the one raising her child! Divorced and someone else raising your child does not make you a "single parent".

I now understand why my entire library system in my area (which is made up of more than 25 libraries) did not own even ONE copy of this book, because this isn't a best seller and isn't a good book. I learned nothing from this book except that Shirley is not a single parent and doesn't bother to give much advice in her so called advice book. On the other hand, I LOVE Steve Harvey's book "act like a lady, think like a man" her morning show costar. But this book is something you should not waste your money on.

I purchased this book used for a little over 4 dollars online and wish I could get my money back! My copy is now in my library system because I didn't want to keep this book and wanted to give the library a copy so that someone else won't waste their money on purchasing this book. Borrow it from your library and if your library system does not have a copy then don't bother purchasing it.

I ordered the book on my Kindle last night and completed it today. It was a nice read. Shirley shared a lot of her personal experiences in the book, some of which I could definitely identify with. I was not familiar with many of the Strawberry Letters she interlaced throughout the book which I also enjoyed.

"there is safety in the multitude of counselors" and The Strawberry Letter: Real Talk, Real Advice offers sage counsel. If we do and accept the same things in our relationships, the probability is that we will end up the same way. This book with its down to earth advice may save many a prolonged heartache.

I really enjoyed reading Shirleys' Strawberry Letter. It was very exciting to read and interesting. The only thing I didn't like was that she would put in a strawberry letter from someone, but she did not always respond to them. I wish she would have done that. On the outside of that; this book was good. She showed her insecurities, shared her personal past (not only hers, but her daughter and her parents past). It was written with dignity and grace. She is a classy lady. I can't wait for her next book!

The Strawberry Letter has some great advice. Shirley's book in my opinion is for women who may feel worthless, and she does a great job with reminding us that one must love self first before being able to love anyone else. Low self-esteem can be changed to high self-esteem, and she does a good job explaining this. It is an easy read. I love the letters that were written, and I am one of your greatest fans. I listen to the show every morning. I am truly proud of all your efforts. You are a true inspiration, and a wealth of knowledge. Your book will help millions of people. Keep on writing.
