Caleb and Laura loved each other so much that they became intricately connected together, like one person, an unbreakable unit living one life. It turned out to be too much for Laura. When she suddenly disappeared with a one-word note of goodbye, it turned out to be too much for Caleb.
Years later, Caleb is a cop with a serious attitude, as is Laura. She's a tough, no-nonsense officer with a chip the size of Texas on her shoulder. But, all things considered, they're both getting by--separately. Survival has become their middle names.
By chance, their paths cross again when they begin working on the same case. Caleb hasn't forgotten Laura after all these years. He wants answers as to why she left and he wants them now.
Will Caleb be able to forgive Laura for abandoning him? Will Caleb and Laura be able to reconnect after so many years apart? Perhaps the sad truth is that they aren't good for each other. Perhaps it's possible for two people to love each other too much.
STRAWBERRY WINE by E. Jamie is an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end for the hero and heroine. This author wrote a deep and riveting character in her heroine. I also found myself drawn to the sideline characters. Though the plot seemed to circle the same track a few times throughout the story, I enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys a broken character struggling through the personal journey of healing.
