I watched the movie a few years ago and its a wonderful story of how animals help people and vice versa. Its based on a true story and I applaud James who has inspired people around the world. His cat died but James has other books and has other stories. I'm happy to see that he not only survived his drug addiction which wasn't easy especially struggling to live barely able to buy food. He has done and made so many positive changes inspiring others and he's a talented musician and singer. Never give up & every person matters regardless of their additions please help people who Need Support, don't judge Help because people do things trying to cope. Anyone trying to overcome any addiction needs support and people to Support them. The majority aren't looking for a hand out they're looking for a way to live again so if you can offer food, job, safe place for people do it. Each state should have centers that offer rooms that are clean with training because everyone deserves the right to be treated with respect and James dealt with lots of unfair things happening to him which he dealt with barely eating while being penalized. Watch the movie which was well done portraying how people are treated and he has managed to change his life and he's gifted in telling stories. I wish you continued Success, love, and sharing stories about Bob because I have had the pleasure of having lots of wonderful cats who kept me going staying by my side after a surgery that didn't help. My cats are no longer here but the memories I cherish because I love reading stories and books about animals, people who help others because my life has been enriched by animals who offer unconditional love.

Five stars for each of the James Bowen accounts of his life with the handsome ginger tabby cat whose mission on earth has been to rescue James from a life on the streets and to provide support for his recovery from the use of street drugs. This review includes "The World According to Bob" and "A Gift From Bob" as well as "A Street Cat Named Bob."

So many lovely 5 star reviews have been written here by those readers who have experienced this same bond of unconditional love with their pets. I could do little more than to echo their words in this regard.

However, the situation that has not been experienced by Bob, and quite understandably has not been considered here, is the eventual passing of him into the spirit world as James remains on earth to finish his life. It is my hope, when this time comes, that James will choose to keep in close contact with Bob through the help of a good animal psychic. This way James will also have the opportunity to learn if Bob is planning to return to be with James as he continues his life here.

As I considered this eventuality I was reminded of Amelia Kincade, a top animal psychic in America, and her "best" selling book "Straight from the Horses Mouth." In the book she reports the death of one of her cats named "Rodney" who also happens to be an orange tabby. She was able to learn from Rodney after he passed that he was planning to reincarnate back into her life. On pages 261 - 265 she narrates his step by step return including how she was to distinguish his identity from among the other kittens at his birth and some weeks later through the recognition of the special gesture which they shared in his earlier life.

James and Bob have been remarkably blessed to have the help of a talented publisher who has captured the affectionate bond between them that Londoners enroute to and from their work looked forward to seeing daily during their years on the streets in Covent Gardens.

Lets hope that Bob and James are on a roll! They have worked hard and struggled for so long and are so deserving of their success. Now they have a real life, a meaningful comfortable role with the animal charities and a solid invested income from the books.

The popularity of the books and the movie that is due to debut in November of "16" should set the stage for sequels about the bond that James shares with this special and unique ginger tabby cat. Thanks to their books we are fortunate to have learned about it. It seems to have the makings of a bond made in heaven that has always been and will always be.

The real world difficulties of turning around a life

This is a tough book to read because it's a long hard road to come back from using heroin and living on the streets. There's times when it seems like the endless grind of daily difficulties will sink his little ship. But he and his rescued stray cat persevere. With a few good people to help here and there they set out on the road to a better life.
