- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2010Platform For Display: Xbox 360Edition: TournamentVerified PurchaseIv never had a Arcade stick before this one. Iv also never really got to play that much in arcades that much due to none of them being around where I live. I must say though this is a extremely well built arcade stick and it being made by Madcatz shocked me on the fact they are known to make very poorly made 3rd party gaming gear. I can tell this is were Capcom jumped.
Over all the stick has a very good weight to it, its pretty heavy but not to the point of almost breaking your legs while its in your lap. It comes stock with a square gate and all the buttons and the stick are real Sanwa parts. The stick is alittle on the soft side from what I have been hearing but its pretty good (if you want you can buy a new spring from Lizard Licks and just add it in to make it much more stiff) Its very responsive aswell. The buttons are extremely responsive no lag in between button press and attack. They are have a soft touch to them, not stiff like arcades from what I hear. Both the stick and buttons have a very nice feel to them though and pulling off moves was so much easier then doing it on a 360 pad. I personaly switched the square gate out for a Octagonal gate.
I bought this for my arcade games on my computer aswell as SF4 on PC (SA8TER21 if anyone wants to add me). It is plug and play but I did have some problems with it and compatibility. CPS2 and 3 would not recognize it as well as some Mame versions and FBAlpha. With alittle of hunting around and a driver download I could get it to recognize with FBAlpha so playing SF3rd Strike was solved. For Mame I just use MameUI32 0.135 and it works great. It works with SNES, Genesis, NES, etc emulators aswell. So yeah if you have problems with the 360 version of this stick just google some drivers for the 360 pad and the arcade stick.
Its a great stick and doesn't need any modification so if your looking for a solid arcade stick the Madcatz TE is right for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2011Platform For Display: Xbox 360Edition: TournamentVerified PurchaseThe SE version of the stick is extremely easy to modify and once modded feels like a real SF Arcade Stick. I didn't want a huge TE stick to lug around. So this was the cheapest alternative I could find. The only real negative I have is that every once in a while, twice a month, the stick will tweak (get locked going 1 direction, or with button down). I just pause, and unplug/plug the USB back in and that fixes it.
I think this is a great deal, but will require some elbow grease to complete plus you must void the warranty. Knowing that I am tossing the base stick and cheesy knockoff buttons, I still consider this a great deal to build an 8-way arcade stick. This beats soldering or spending $150+ on and hauling around a TE stick.
Cost ($106 + $7 shipping ~ $115) and was able to buy all through Amazon:
SE Stick for XBox360 ... $55 [Used from Amazon Reseller]
8 sanwa buttons ... $2/btn = $16 [Amazon or Lizardlick]
Sanwa JLF Stick ... $35 [Amazon or Lizardlick]
Within 20 minutes I had the stick modded with my bright green sanwa buttons and stick. We're not breaking new ground here as you can youtube and find dozens of guides on how to do this.
1. Open the base (6 phillips head screws).
2. Replace the buttons (one at a time is easiest to keep the wiring and position straight)
. a. Slide off the wire clips from bottom of button using needlenose pliers
. b. Pinch and pop out the old buttons. A flathead screwdriver may help.
. c. Pop in the new button, and slide the right connector onto the new button. (repeat x7)
3. Replace the stick
. a. Scrape off the red glue and disconnect the easy connect on right of old stick
. b. Stick flat-head driver into base of stick, and screw off the ball at the top
. b. Scrape off the red glue covering the baseplate screws.
. c. Unscrew Stick baseplate(4 phillips head screws).
. d. Pull out the old stick, slide in the new and screw it in (4 screws). Make sure you get your dust covers right, one under the case and one on top.
. e. Flat head to the base of the Sanwa JLF, and screw on the Sanwa Balltop.
4. Screw back in the 6 screws to the base.
Since my original mod I have bought an 8way octagonal restrictor plate [~$7, don't overpay]. It feels a little better to me than the square gate, 8way plate that comes with the JLF. I literally beat the heck out of this stick. I haul it all over to friends houses for SSF IV and Marvel/Capcom competitions and it is still playing like day 1.
One last note: I tried using it for Pac-Man and Galaga, and I have to say it doesn't work well in 4-way mode. The restrictor plate keeps most of the moves clean (one switch hit at a time), but the throw (size of handle and travel) on the stick is too big. I ended up building a seperate stick for classic arcade games and Pac-Man CE.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2021Platform For Display: Xbox 360Edition: TournamentVerified PurchaseLast time I ever buy from this person. I knew it was used but I was expecting it to work. But instead it acts weird, drops inputs, and sometimes just stops working. I have to unplug it and then plug it back in but during fighting game matches every movement counts and I’ve lost way too many matches due to this stick not working the way it’s supposed to. They should’ve been honest and let me know that the stick had issues.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2011Platform For Display: Xbox 360Edition: TournamentVerified PurchaseStick was dirty and it was missing the instructions and the cord to connect to the xbox headset. Product was dusty and dirty. Box was torn. The packaging was not good. Don't order from this person because he did not give correct information about the product and he did not state that the instructions and the cord was missing and it looks like the stick was played with more than a week that he stated.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2018Platform For Display: Xbox 360Edition: TournamentVerified PurchaseServed me for years before I eventually sold it. The ABS plastic shell and metal top plate make this thing nearly indestructible. Brought it with me to sessions and let all sorts of people thrash on it. Comfortable to hold and use in your lap or on top of a desk or other surface. The primary thing holding this back is the PCB. It's been shown to have above average input delay compared to other sticks out there, and earlier revisions of the TE sticks can even suffer from unexplained failure that results in dropped inputs or even total death of the PCB itself. The stick is easy to open and it was so popular that many guides exist for this model and others in its line, so you wont have a hard time replacing the PCB or putting new art on it if that's what you'd like to do, so there's hope yet for you if you've already purchased this stick or one like it. I don't know that I'd recommend the first generation sticks to anyone now, but if you can find a TE2 for the console of your choice, that would be plenty fine for most people. (You may still want to replace the PCB for one that has lower input lag....or just buy a stick that has no input lag)

MakotoReviewed in the United Kingdom on November 7, 20095.0 out of 5 stars Tournament Edition SF IV Fight Stick
Platform For Display: Xbox 360Edition: TournamentVerified PurchaseI love fighters, but was reluctant to spend a lot of money on a peripheral limited only to fighting games. However, upon playing Street Fighter IV - which I absolutely love - I decided to fork out for a stick that would improve my overall game. This is the reason I opted to buy the TE Fight Stick!
The TE fight Stick is quite simply the best stick I have ever played on. I've played on a lot of sticks on different consoles, but none of them match up to this stick. The parts in the stick are all SANWA. That's all the buttons, including the start and select button, and the stick. My overall skill on the game has increased 100% since I purchased the stick. My execution on moves is now nigh on perfect, and the reaction of the stick is excellent for all the moves. On a pad I had difficulty performing some of the more completed combo's and ultra combo set ups. Within 2 weeks of playing on this stick I can now perform everything that I ever wanted. I have completed all of the Hard trials for Streetfighter IV since acquiring the stick. I polish this stick everyday, as I love it so much. With the upcoming Super Street Fighter IV and other fight games that are out, or coming out, this is an essential purchase for the fighting game enthusiast.
RATED 10/10 for quality, build, and overall excellence.

FlorianReviewed in Germany on January 19, 20105.0 out of 5 stars Perfektion....

H. HanspeterReviewed in Germany on March 23, 20104.0 out of 5 stars Etwas zu teuer, aber ansonsten gut
