This is hardly Street Fighter... The other reviews were right, and I didn't listen. I play alot of ST and was really into IV for a long time. I heard all the nasty things but finally, the game was set to a price I figured would be no big loss. First thing that made me rage was the loss of Blanka, Honda, and Sagat. Then, I noticed Guile was put behind a pay wall. True, if you play the game enough, you can unlock him. But these are core characters, man!! How are you gonna do that the fan base? And the choice of all the other characters... what piles. Then next thing that got me raging... I'm a Ryu player. So I know my way around his moves. I noticed instantly I couldn't tatsu while jumping straight up or backwards. Only forward... I also realized that the jumping forward fierce kick, to strong crouch kick, to hadouken does not cross up. Atleast I couldn't get it work... I haven't messed around with any others yet, but I don't think that's gonna change my opinion. I wish they would just port ST to PS4 to keep that game alive. It's still played competitively at EVO and retains the fun factor. Either way, I hope they find a way to keep Street Fighter a relevant fighting game... But SFV is not it. I hate leaving negative reviews for games... But I it wouldn't be right to fluff it up with more stars... I heard alot of bad things about MVCI, too. So that's another fighter I'll be waiting to pick up til later.

Really wanted to love this, but my patience ran out

I bought the game at release back in February 2016 and have been patiently waiting for improvements. Unfortunately Season 2 has now started and the fundamental flaws remain. This game is just flat out a chore to play. Single player content is extremely limited with no Arcade Mode at all, and Survival is horrific: you have to win 10, 30, 50, or 100 rounds in a row in order to complete each difficulty. The 30 rounds take about 20-25 minutes and if (when) you lose, you have to start all over again. Extremely frustrating to spend so much time only to get knocked out in the final 5 rounds. I can't imagine what getting to round 99 and losing feels like (probably at least an hour of fighting to get that far). I wrote Capcom a complaint email about this back in the Spring, but nothing has changed.

There is a very wonderful looking cinematic story mode that will chew up a few hours, but after that it's not worth revisiting. You don't get to choose your characters for this mode, so you're stuck in the set routine (playing as Dhalsim and getting crushed by Necalli is not my idea of fun). In terms of single player content, this is the worst Street Fighter I've ever played (I owned all the SNES versions and most of the PS1/PS2 games).

On top of that, the game is really geared up as an enormous paywall system designed to pry open your wallet and extract the maximum amount of cash. Sure, you can unlock characters or levels using in game Fight Money (FM), but earning this is an exercise in extreme grinding. You can attempt the aforementioned Survival mode to earn FM, but even the Normal setting (30 rounds) will take hours or days worth of work to complete per character.

You can also earn 1,000 FM playing (and winning) online, which is also a chore. I have fiber optic internet (very high speeds) but have to sit here waiting for an eternity for a match to start. Once it does, you're likely to get demolished by someone online. I'm not a slouch when it comes to Street Fighter, having played it for several decades, but it can be really tough to win online. That makes earning FM even more of a chore. Considering that it costs 100,000 FM to unlock a character and there are 6 characters per season, you're looking at at least 600 victories online to get them all.

Of course, you could just pay Capcom $29 per season to get these characters, which I believe is their hope. Certainly unlocking things due to in-game enjoyment is not in the plan here. There are some "daily" (weekly) challenges to help bolster this, but they're few and far between. I realize paywalls are the norm for games these days, but there are many other games I've played where I get hours of enjoyment playing AND can unlock some nifty stuff just by enjoying myself. For SFV, you get neither the enjoyment or the stuff after sinking in a few hours of play.

All said, this is truly disappointing because the game itself looks fantastic! I have a feeling if you aspire to the Capcom Pro Tour, this review won't be relevant as you're expecting online play only in Ranked Matches. However, if you liked classic SF fare, I'd definitely not recommend purchasing this game! I tried to be patient for the majority of a year, but the only changes Capcom releases are more characters behind paywalls and zero improvements to the game fundamentals.

now i was skeptical about sfv. however, after i started playing i began to enjoy it. yes it took some adjustment for the style of sf4 gameplay but it seems to have worth it. the fight money (FM) system it not a bad way to earn new characters, stages and costumes. it do takes some time if you're not a skilled player. so if you're not highly skilled and wanted as much as possible, be prepared to shed some dough to get it. i like the fact that they is cross-play between pc and ps4 and that capcom has a dedicated network for on-line play. this minimises, no it eliminates trash talk from soar losers. the challenges are easier than sf4. i managed to complete nearly all. i am not a good player.
the game feels like it is based to give average players a fighting chance.
if you're looking to complete platinum trophy as an average player( like me), completing survival mode on extreme will be elusive. other than that, you should be able to complete every other one over time.
I gave it 4 stars because i dislike the fact that addons cost you(in any game). however, the FM aspect seem to minimise this.

Gameplay is amazing. The controls are tight, the presentation is awesome, the characters rock and everything else sucks terribly. Capcom is trying to squeeeeeeeeze as many pennies from our pockets as humanly possible! The best way i can describe this game is that it's a free to play game that isn't free to play! I can understand if you won fight money based on a tough challenge but you get the same amount of fight money (50) for every online fight. Granted, you do get a decent amount of it from playing the other modes (character story, general story, survival, etc) but but you only get that fight money one time. So in the long run it's a grind that i literally do not have enough time in my life to do. You get 50 fight-money dollars per online win and characters cost 100,000 so that's 2000 wins online to get a new character. The dlc for costumes is around 30 bucks.....which is some bulls***. Capcom just looks desperate to rob people by cashing in on the SF legacy as opposed to, you know, making a great game that sells, YOU SUCK, CAPCOM!!!!

This game should have been a 40 dollar game at launch because it is lacking a Arcade mode. Seriously Capcom how do you not put a Arcade mode in this game? This is a great bare bones fighting game do not expect much extra. I have been playing street fighter since the beginning and in my opinion this game was rushed. Picked this game up if you can get it 30 dollars or below.

Really good fun game, but if you know what Capcom are like it's a really good fun half game. Pay for half of it full price and pay for the other half full price again. Otherwise very enjoyable but slightly annoying with all the "pay me more" element.

Como muchos lo han dicho ya, el principal problema de SFV es que se siente incompleto, el modo de historial incluido originalmente, se siente hecho a la carrera y sin terminar, no tiene modo Arcade ni Vs. CPU.

Dejando de lado eso, el juego es muy muy bueno, graficamente es espectucular, el control de los personajes es perfecto y el modo online funciona excelente. Ademas, una vez instaladas todas las actualizaciones que existen al día de hoy, el juego cuenta con un modo de historia mucho mas completo.

Todos los personajes extra y algunos trajes (los del modo de historia) pueden ser desbloqueados jugando y sin la necesidad de gastar dinero real, no así los trajes "premiun" que forzosamente hay que comprarlos en la PSN store. Estos trajes y personajes desbloqueables, se consiguen comprandolos con "Fight Money" que obtenemos jugando los modos de Historia, Survival, Challenges y Demostration, así como jugando en linea, aunque es muy poco lo que obtenemos por cada victoria.

Un consejo: Nunca, NUNCA jueguen un modo nuevo, o con un personaje que hayan jugago antes si estan desconectados del servidor, ya que de hacerlo, no obtendran Fight Money ni experiencia.

A pesar de los errores que cometio en su
lanzamiento, actualmente este juego es para mi el mejor juego de pelea, buen apartado grafico, jugabilidad divertida y una buena cantidad de peleadores disponible.
Lo malo: Los personajes,trajes,escenarios y colores se pueden conseguir pagando dinero o "gratis" con el FightMoney (la moneda que ganas dentro del juego) pero una vez que ganas el Fightmoney que te dan por pasar los modos de juegos compraras un par de personajes y luego te sera imposible conseguir escenarios,colores,trajes y etc de manera gratuita, por lo que tendras que pagar $ extra (probablemente esto se correguira con la actualizacion del 16 de Enero)
