B-- Delaney is so right-on-the-money by showing diagrams of a piano keyboard for reference to the bass. He has the stature to say what others fear to say: that the piano keyboard is THE reference point for understanding the chromatic scale.
C-- The "super-scales" are cool, and the notation is effective. I have just begun absorbing this part, but am confident that it works for me.
D-- I am using this book in combination with the old-but-good video DVD by Roly Salley "You Can Play Electric Bass" with great effect. I think if you do the same (this book and that video) the only thing left to acquire is some lessons with a local bassist. Unless you want to go into abstruse or very advanced music - in that case, you need to enroll in a degree program.
