Bonnie Hunter has changed the way I quilt! I have been set free and empowered to mix colors, shapes, strips and bits into beautiful quilts that are mine alone. Using my scraps, I have created so many terrific quilts all inspired by Bonnie's designs. I can't wait for her next book - they are all winners and a much used part of my quilting library. --Kim B.
Since completing my first Bonnie Hunter quilt three years ago, her patterns are the only ones I am interested in now. They are the most beautiful quilts I have ever made. Bonnie's patterns and directions are always precise and easy to understand. The most complicated look becomes doable even for the beginning quilter. --Cathy W.
About the Author
Before quilting became her full time career, Bonnie was the owner and designer of "Needle in a Haystack!!" creating more than 70 patterns for dolls and stuffed animals with a country primitive feel. Many of her designs were licensed through the Butterick Pattern Company, translated into seven languages, and sold around the globe through fabric stores. Bonnie is also a licensed massage therapist, nationally certified in therapeutic massage and body work.
But quilting has always been Bonnie's first love. She has been machine quilting for more than 20 years and professionally longarm quilting for the public for more than 15 years. She has been featured in magazines for both her quilt patterns and articles she has written on scrap management and using that stash to its full potential.
Bonnie is dedicated to continuing the traditions of quilting. She enjoys meeting with quilters, teaching workshops and lecturing to quilt guilds all over the world, challenging quilters to break the rules, think outside the box, and find what brings them joy.
Bonnie is the author of "Scraps & Shirttails: Reuse, Re-purpose and Recycle! The Art of Quilting Green," "Adventures with Leaders & Enders: Make More Quilts in Less Time!" and "Scraps & Shirttails II: Continuing the Art of Quilting Green."

I was also struck by Day Lily although the cream background has to go. What struck me is that this quilt, perhaps in a smaller size, would make a good primer for an aspiring quilt maker--hand piece the day lily block, hand applique the leaves, & then machine piece the string blocks & for construction.
Why not 5 stars? The instructions! Reading them make my brain hurt. Terms are not well defined & I had to continually flip back & forth through the pattern pages to try & figure things out. For example a "2 part triangle". No where is it defined. I did find something that looked as if it were a 2 part triangle but, I don't believe, it was labeled. Nothing seems to be labeled. My overall impression is that everything that was possible to do was done to save paper & nothing was done for the ease of the quilter. Good thing the quilts are interesting because the directions are 1 star. IMHO
