Sloane is turning thirty and she has just moved back to her hometown, Beaver Bend, Minnesota. (Not a huge fan of the name of the town but that's because I'm a Minnesotan myself and this feels a bit too much even for me!) Sloane is angry and sad about her recent divorce. Her future feels unsettled now. She is renting an apartment above a mechanic's shop and she is working with a local groomer (which she is very excited about). But is she ready for anything else unexpected in her life?
Rick had a crush on his best friend's older sister all throughout high school. In fact, they shared a kiss that Sloane is unwilling to admit she enjoyed. When Rick learns she is back in town, he can't help if his fantasies start spinning again. Rick has grown into a bit of a playboy since Sloane moved away. He has a nice body he has worked for, he is a talented mechanic, and oh yeah, he likes pleasing women. When Sloane sees him her first night back in town, she cannot believe the scrawny teen boy she remembers from high school is now stripping for a good cause at her father's bar. And wow, what a body!
Sloane and Rick connect again through mutual lust but there is a lot more to their relationship than just that. I really enjoyed watching these two get to know each other all over again. I really liked that for the most part, their high school personas were swept aside after the first few chapters. Sloane has moved on from her popular and snobby days of high school. Rick has embraced his life in every way he can and enjoys sharing his...talents with women. These two have grown up and I liked how Erin McCarthy sets them on a path together as they discover each other as adults.
There are some surprises along the way for these characters, revelations about their histories and what they hope for in the future. Sloane is so much more than the trophy wife role she lived for ten years. Rick is a lot more than the local muscular hottie who entertains women. I enjoyed getting to know them and seeing their personalities evolve throughout the book.
Erin McCarthy's voice feels both familiar and fresh in Stripped Down. I enjoyed getting to know Rick and Sloane and I am already anxious to read book two in the Tap That series, Strip Search. I think this series will be a great read for Erin McCarthy's long time fans but also, a great discovery for all readers. This is a fun and frothy romance I enjoyed from start to finish!
Rick “Little Dicky” Ryder is a hottie we’ll known as a bit of a ladies man around Beaver Bend Minnesota. Sloan is a former cheerleader/mean girl who moved away, married...divorced and moved back home. She’s also his best friend’s big sister. He’s been crushing on her since he was a small, slightly geeky 15 year old. You ask why I said hero? Because...well you’ll have to read to find out! 😏
Sloan has just returned home after over a decade away...and on the eve of her 30th birthday. She’s divorced, vulnerable and self-doubting. It’s quite a comedown for the former cheerleader/trophy wife. She’s come home to be near her family and help her widowed brother Sullivan with his son Finn and...hopefully...find herself and a bit of her confidence again.
Her first night out with her girlfriends they take her to her father’s bar ‘Tap That’ and usher her into her 30’s with a Charity Event/Strip Show to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. Her brother’ wife Kendra passed just a year ago (in fact the show is being held on the anniversary of her burial) and the event was a memorial to her...so she had to come. She’s not feeling it...at all...until she gets a load of the hottie waiting in line to strip for the crowd of excited women. Who is that? Her very sleepy hormones blaze back awake. What she doesn’t expect to find out is that he is one of her brother’s best friends, in fact the one she’d been horrible to...and she’s shocked!
What results is a well written...whirlwind of a love story...that is totally worth the ride! 😉
RECOMMEND!
In Stripped Down we meet Sloane and Rick.
Sloane is young, but life wasn't too good for her. She had some hard moments behind her, when I meet her I felt sorry for her. I really hoped that Erin will give her quckly another chance to find her happines. Because life could be very spuprising.... Sloane started to look at Rick in more warm than friendly way. Rick is real man so he want to take a risk with conquering Sloane's heart. Of course their history won't be full of roses... as good story it had to be also drama behind. Erin knows very good how to keep tension and chemistry between this couple and readers heart.
I enjoy very much Rick's and Sloane story, for sure this book is for everyone who likes great romance and steamy moments to read, when relax is needed.
