Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

You know how freaky it is, to expect one taste and get another? Imagine picking up a can of tepid ginger ale and taking a swig of delicious, icy cold peppermint tea. Alice Raymond did just that. And though the tea is exactly what she wants, she bought herself a soda.

No, Alice's life isn't exactly paint-by-numbers. After breaking things off with her lying, stealing, bum of an ex, she discovered she's pregnant. Motherhood was definitely on her "someday" wish list, but a baby means less time for her art and no time for recent hallucinations that include this switcharoo with the tea. She has to impress her new boss, the ridiculously long-lashed, smoky-eyed Ethan Gallagher, and she has to deal with her family, who have started rambling about gypsy curses. Only a soul-deep bond with the right man can save her and her child? As if being single wasn't pressure enough!

About the Author

Tracy Madison lives in northwestern Ohio with her husband, four children, one bear-size dog, one loving-but-paranoid pooch and a couple of snobby cats. Her house is often hectic, noisy and filled to the brim with laugh-out-loud moments. Many of these incidents fire up her imagination to create the interesting, realistic and intrinsically funny characters that live in her stories. Tracy loves to hear from readers. You can reach her at tracy@tracymadison.com.

Tracy Madison's A STROKE OF MAGIC takes off right where her first book A TASTE OF MAGIC ends. Alice Raymond is single and pregnant. When she finds out about her gypsy magic heritage she's not very happy at first but when she learns from her great-great-great grandmother's ghost that she has to use her magic to find her soulmate before her baby is born, then she is unhappy and confused!

With a lot of returning characters from the first book (like Grandma Verda, Scott, and the rest of the family including Elizabeth), A Stroke of Magic is fun from the very first page and felt like visiting old friends. And Alice's hero is sexy and sweet and everything that heroes should be.

A Stroke of Magic is a fast-paced tale filled to the brim with laugh-out-loud moments, an intriguing storyline, zippy dialog, and a really unique take on magic. I devoured this book in one day!

A magical gift...
What's a girl to do when her sister gives her a gift of magic? On top of finding out her sleazy boyfriend is already married, Alice discovers she's pregnant. So Alice, a talented artist is now struggling to make a life for herself & her coming child. And then there's Grandma & Elizabeth, the members of her family with Gypsy magic. The rest of the family will delight the reader as well. Even a ghostly appearance from a relative long gone adds fun to the mix. And we can't forget Ethan, Alice's new boss who fills her head with wishes for more...
Wonderful characters and fun, fast paced story. What a great series!

Keep in mind that this is a fun romantic fluff read. 4.5* of 5*

I really wanted to like this book. The premise is very cute. But, the story dragged so much that I finally couldn't stand it anymore and just skipped to the end and read the last chapter. 322 pages is just way too many pages to have to slog through to read about all the ineffective efforts to reach a happy ending, even though eventually there was a happy ending. Half as many pages would have made this book much more palatable. It's nice, in a book, to be uncertain about how things will turn out since it keeps you guessing, but when it drags on and on it becomes boring. In the end, this book was just so boring that I couldn't keep reading it.

In Chicago, Enchanted Expressions graphic designer Alice Raymond has a slight problem. It is not being single and pregnant as she kicked her cheating ex to the curb. It is not the fact that her hormones are geometrically out of control due partly to the fetus inside her and to a degree due to her crush on her boss, Ethan Gallagher. Finally it is not the fact that she can see her late great-grandmother and have her wishes come true. Her dilemma is the Gypsy's curse that proclaims for her now unborn daughter to live a happy life; Alice must find her soul mate before the infant is born.

Her libido insists it is Gallagher, but Alice no longer trusts that part of her body. Ethan was engaged to his forever significant other who ended their relationship after a fortuneteller told her he was not her numero uno. He vowed never again will he allow a "paranormal" con artist to intrude in his life. However, now he believes he has found his significant other in Alice, but she rants like she visited "Wonderland" about dead relatives and gypsy curses. Though he fears she is a certifiable fruitcake, he loves Alice, but even he is unsure whether he can stand by her when she keeps sprouting about her unborn being cursed.

Fans will enjoy this delightful paranormal romance filled with two wonderful lead characters and a strong support cast. Alice is a believer but Ethan is a doubter, which makes for a fun relationship for readers but not for them. Anyone who enjoys A TASTE OF MAGIC will appreciate this lighthearted frolic as once again, Tracy Madison provides a charming whimsical urban fantasy.

It's nothing like the first book. It just couldn't relate to the main character, she's extremely annoying, the magic doesn't make any sense and the plot is so predictable that it irritates me. I bought it in a kindle daily deal and I think it was not worth the money I paid for it.

These books have a good premise, but it is just too full of melodrama for me. On so many levels it is a lifetime movie and then she tosses in some magic and you feel as if it is simply to cash in on the supernatural craze. I was disappointed and gave them a chance by purchasing more than one in the series, but I certainly can't recommend them to anyone who wants a romance that doesn't have some heavy undertones and overtones for that matter.

A Stroke of Magic by Tracy Madison is book 2 of a series of Magic Books. I read book 1, A Taste of Magic, and enjoyed it so I purchased book 2. This book was equally good, It is about a sister being gifted with magic, but not being told. Weird things began to happen to her, and sometimes she goes in the wrong direction with the magic helping her. These books are cute and a quick read with wonderful quirky characters. Grandma Verda, who is the instigator in the gift of magic is a wonderful, funny character who is always good for a laugh. There is minimal foul language but the f bomb is dropped occasionally if this is a concern of yours. Formatting is not distracting from the book at all just the usual few word divisions from downloading to an ebook. If you are looking for a book to read quickly with a magical story this book will certainly meet your needs. I do suggest starting with the first book in the series though.
