Top Customer Reviews
Knife is well designed and is sturdy and razor sharp out of the box.
Handle is comfortable and isn't likely to slide around in your hand.
Fiskars must have teamed up with Gerber to manufacture this knife as it says Fiskars and Fiskars Brands Inc. on the box.
For those who are unaware , Fiskars makes some quality axes , saws and knives.
On a scale from 1-10 I'd rate the sheath 5 at best. The sheath needs one more snap added between the plastic sheath , right where the hilt of the knife rests , and the bottom of the belt attachment webbing. Without an attachment point there , the sheath is able to swing out 90° from your leg when the knife is out of the sheath and 45° when the knife is in the sheath with the retention snap snapped. This is a serious design flaw and I'm surprised that this was overlooked in the design process!
The molle attachment should have also been designed to feed down from the top instead of up from the bottom so that gravity could never allow it to work loose. By having it feed upward from the bottom , the combination of gravity and vibration from moving around , can allow the clip to slide downward , possibly resulting in its loss.
If not for these design flaws in the sheath , I would rate this knife 5 stars...
I bought size 24 snaps and installed a snap where one should have been , to help secure the belt carry webbing to the sheath.
I used a dremel tool to grind the middle rib down on the plastic part of the sheath so the shaft of the snap would be long enough to entend through to be flared by the flared tool.
I had to square up part of the snap base so it fit through the back side of the hole without hitting on the bottom part of the inside of the sheath.
I tried to use a leather hole punch to put a hole in the webbing to attach the snap but it was making a mess of the webbing.
I ended up holding a small nail with a pair of vice grips , heated the nail with a torch and melted a hole . The nail went right through and by doing it this way , there will be no fraying of the webbing in the future.
It turned out great and now the sheath is properly secured to the webbing , doesn't flop around anymore and yet can be removed if needed.
Good overall quality
Blade came sharp out of box
Easy to resharpen
Good thick spine - capable of taking abuse
Very grippy handle
Good overall design - capable of filling many roles
Poor design for belt loop attachment to sheath
Handle is too thin and and could be designed better for comfort and control
420HC blade steel is a decent budget steel but dulls fairly quickly
