Could it be that 40 plus years into her career, she may have just delivered her finest album to date? Now to be upfront, I have been a fan of Reba's for more years than I care to admit at this point, but let's be honest, while I do not think she has ever released something I would consider a true "miss", a few of her albums by far outshine the others. This one however....this one....WOW. If you want to remember what "country music" really is, that kind of hurt that breaks your heart, but somehow gives you wings at the same time, put this record on and just hit repeat. There is nothing forced here, nothing contrived; Just a woman with a voice that can only be described as an instrument itself, signing songs that touched her heart and in doing so, gave a small part of hers away to those of us listening. THIS IS IT....this is Reba at her finest, a stand alone album I would without hesitation offer to anyone who would ask to understand her vast body of work or simply question, "Why Reba? ". Listen and you will know why.

A few years back Reba put out a Christmas album that was basically just her vocal, piano and guitar. It was very simple, but it worked. After that she put out her gospel album, which again was very simple, but it worked as well. Now comes “Stronger Than The Truth” which Reba saysis the most country album she’s recorded in quite awhile. It is indeed. As with Christmas and gospel albums the production here is pretty simple, there are very few, if any, studio tricks here. It’s just Reba’s untouched vocals (little to no echo, and not a lot of background vocals) and traditional country instruments. The result is one of Reba’s best albums.
Reba’s been making albums since 1977 and has her share of hits and huge selling albums. She’s at the point that many artists of her generation are at, she’s making what she likes, knowing she’s not going to sell millions or dominate the charts. It’s just the way it goes. Because the chase for success is not there, it’s just great songs sung beautifully.

The Queen of Country is back to show what true Country is all about. There are great story songs like Cactus in a coffee Can that tug at the hearts strings. There are a couple of swing songs Swing All Night Long With You and No U In Oklahoma reminding you of the good old days when she did Oklahoma Swing with Vince Gill. Storm In A Shot Glass and Freedom are song that ask you to get up and dance to. There is lots of fiddle, guitar, and piano. The production at times is acoustic that's perfect for an album that's stone cold country. There are no snap tracks or auto tune or anything that resembles what country radio is playing, this album are for those who want to be reminded of the 80's and 90's of country music. Do yourself a favor and pick up STRONGER THAN THE TRUTH.

My complaint is when my CD came in, the case it came in was damaged and I was not happy. This is release day for this record meaning it’s a new CD, even preordered it too so I was more upset. I’m glad I have replacement empty cases at home for situations like this but that doesn’t change the fact this makes me very upset, this should have never happened.

Reba’s most recent country album is awesome. If this had been a decade ago, it’d easily be multi-platinum. I hope it gets discovered by the country fan base nonetheless. This is a quality, old-school record - easily one of her best and I’ve been a fan since the 80s. Stand out tracks are “There’s no U in Oklahoma” which is a fun dance track with a classic tongue in cheek lyric. “Cactus in a Coffee Can” which is a tear jearker. “Tammy Wynette Kind of Pain” - which wouldn’t be out of place on any of her 1990s records. Though I think my guilty pleasure is “The bars getting lower”...a bouncy ditty with a grin-inducing lyric. The CD is one of the few I’ve gotten recently that has much replay value, outside of Jon Pardi’s latest.

Always the Queen of ballads, she has some gut wrenching songs with beautiful melodies and she sings them to perfection. She also has some uptempo western swing and dance songs. This is My Kind of Reba! She also includes Freedom which is an anthem song and is a 90s type throwback. Reba hit a home run with this one. Kudos also to the songwriters also. The songs are amazing. Reba McEntire at her finest. This may be her best country album to date. If you're a Reba fan or a country music fan, this album is a must for you! Its truly Grammy worthy too.
