The story is epic in scope and, ... I must also add that to write a tale of this scope requires an accomplished and talented author. Ms. Lugo is with a doubt capable of accomplishing this feat and much more. She writes with confidence and skill, weaving a wonderful love story into a fantasy world that contains more verisimilitude than many novels set in the real world. Her characters literally leap from the pages through dialogue, thoughts and actions.
From the Author
is part of the Daniel's Fork
saga. It tells the story of the young Setiyah, one of the main characters of the novel Daniel's Fork
. When I first began my "journey to the future past," I had no intention of writing anything other than a trilogy involving the daring, amoral William Evers and friends. As is often the case, good intentions often have a way of running away from the well-intended author. Possibilities and questions began to plague my thoughts. Soon, I found myself wondering if I should not delve first into the origins of characters and historical issues that would answer questions about setting, customs, background, and overall world building that illustrate why my characters talk, live, and love as they do. Instead of writing the next book in the Daniel's Fork trilogy, I stepped back and wrote Edge of the World,
followed quickly by Strongheart's Woman
. The result is a fictional panorama that sets the stage not for a trilogy, but for a long series of novels all set in the Daniel's Fork Universe. Setiyah, the healer, will be central to the entire series. I hope you'll love her as much as I do.
