About the Author
Victor Andres Triay, Ph.D., was born in Miami, Florida, to Cuban exile parents. He has been a history professor at Middlesex Community College in Middletown, Connecticut, since 1992. His first historical work, Fleeing Castro, was the first book to explore the early 1960s program that brought over 14,000 Cuban children to the United States as unaccompanied refugees. His second book, Bay of Pigs, was the recipient of the 2001 Samuel Proctor Oral History Prize. In July 2013, Triay entered the world of historical fiction with his book, The Struggle Begins, Book I of the three-book series entitled The Unbroken Circle. Book II, Freedom Betrayed, and Book III, On Freedom's Shores, are scheduled to be released, respectively, in late 2013 and in 2014. Triay resides in Middletown, Connecticut, with his wife, Emilia, and their three children, Victor Andres, Jr., Gabriela Elena, and Francisco Xavier.

With the excitement of a Cold War spy novel, The Struggle Begins is the poignant tale of a middle class Cuban family whose tranquil lives are shattered as the Castro government tightens its grip on the people of the island. Mild-mannered businessmen, professionals and University students become involved in underground activities designed to overthrow the Castro government. Their sacrifice, family values, bravery and patriotism shine through in Triay's work.
The Struggle Begins is a masterpiece. Bring on Book 2!
