From the Author
Does this book have a cliffhanger? No, but the characters in Stubborn continue their stories throughout the series. Each book ends on a satisfying note.
Does the series have to be read in chronological order? Yes. Please read them in order so you can avoid spoilers as you follow Avery's journey.
How steamy is this book? This book is a contemporary young adult romance with a heavy emphasis on a romantic story-line. You can expect references to intimate situations, nothing explicit, just lightly illustrated romantic encounters. As the series goes on, the books transition into new adult (protagonists over the age of 18) territory.
Will there be more books? Yes. Jeanne plans to write several more. Readers have been so gracious with their encouragement and requests for additional books. She's on a mission to satisfy your STUBBORN needs.
What are the themes of the series? Romance, first love, independence, family dynamics, mystery, revenge, coming of age, rebellion, betrayal, and humor...to name a few.
This coming of age series about first love is meant to satisfy readers who enjoy following their favorite characters on an extensive, humorous, exciting, and emotional journey.

The main characters are young, either heading to college age, in college, or just out of college. None of the love scenes get heated, they stay PG.
There are some unexpected relationships that we find out about. Young love at it’s best and we all know how intense young love is. Of course we have the bad guy, who has done some truly horrible things in the course of trying to get what he wants. The things he’s done, have truly hurt a family deeply, causing one of the characters to become an introvert and avoid others. He holds a lot of anger and resentment inside. It’s not easy trying too break through the wall he’s built around himself.
It’ll be interesting to see if the new girl in town can wiggle her way into his heart? She gets sent to her aunts, because of an incident that she wears for quite a while lol. Also, to help her aunt out in oil country, where she boards men while they work the oil rigs. Auntie has secrets of her own, that can’t be kept secret.
Definitely worth the read. There are, I think 4 books in this series. I’m not sure if they can be read individually at different times or not. It seemed like it’s a possibility, going on how this book ended. However, I’m not sure. I have to skim the next book and find out.
I think this would be a great book for teens about 14 and up, but that’s just my opinion.
I was totally wrapped up in Avery's tale, especially when the gorgeous Halden boys came into the mix. The description of these Texas boys left me breathless. And Stubborn will leave you wanting more as you read the subtle play of physical emotions and life learning experiences. I am so looking forward to Jeanne's second book in this series, Just as Stubborn.
Gabe’s moody ways drove me nuts. Were some of his actions understandable? Yes. Others? Not in the least bit. And yet I liked this handsome green eyed Texan with his gentle, and when pushed with a feather, rowdy ways. I loved Avery. A spunky, smart assed, tough girl who didn’t take crap from anyone, except Gabe sometimes. Her sense of humor made me laugh. Stubborn is the perfect title for the book.
A wonderful novel that was easy to get into and kept me excited until I hit the last page.
I love the book! Every paragraph was interesting and I couldn't put it down. I pulled an all-nighter reading this book, I think you will too. It never got boring once, and was so relatable to what happens in a teenage girl's mind. This book is now shelved among my favorite series and I can't wait to dive into the rest of the Stubborn series! I recommend this series to anyone who likes summer romance, spirited characters and a hunger for the next page.
Arnold performed a masterful job of weaving together teenage angst, young-adult antics, and adult perspectives with oil-boom drama. I was sucked into the story to the point where I felt grimy from the dusty roads and sweaty from the oppressive heat. The book is loaded with action in an industry I would never experience in real life.
