The writers use of heavy morals harked back to the 50's. I doubt one young woman in 5 is a virgin so making such a big deal about the younger woman moving in with Penelope's X husband for awhile didn't make sense. If you are only dating someone it isn't anyone's business what your past holds. Everyone makes mistakes but acting like this girl was damaged goods really irritated me!
Not much paranormal goings on or as much as I would have liked. There was to much emphasis put on the main character, her best friend & her father. I couldn't get over how Penelope ruled her Dad with such a forcefulness. He was a grown man if he wanted to have more than one beer he had that right. My Father wouldn't have let me get away with her holier than thou attitude!
To much trite filler & not enough paranormal mystery will keep me from reading any more in this series.
I grew very tired of the title character mooning around over this 'Sam' guy and not seeming to know who he actually is. Also, the use of the word 'blessed' was used ad nauseam.
I would not choose to read any more books in this series based on this book.
Please, save your money. Her books are not worth a cent.
I liked "The Stubborn Schoolhouse Spirit" and the history Penelope uncovered regarding the founding father of Amaryllis, Arkansas and his family. And, of course, Penelope stumbles upon so much more. I liked being reunited with characters from the first book and meeting new ones. It's a delightful read . . . and you may even begin to believe in ghosts.
