Prepare yourself with aspirin if you have no choice but to use this manual. I own all three volumes. There's a troubling number of errors that will make you swim in circles if you're trying to learn calculus. I remember asking myself whether they even checked for errors since it was so bad at times. There's NOTHING worse than a solutions manual with errors in it when you're studying for exams and must adhere to a schedule. My calculus teacher said the errors are most likely the result of the authors' underlings who were paid to throw this 'solutions manual' together, who were either underpaid, incompetent or very sleepy when they made it. If you need real human interaction when you get stuck on calculus homework, go to calcchat.com They provide the answers that are in this book online for free in addition to taking requests for problems. I also recommend wolfram mathematica and wolfram's math demonstration page to enhance your understanding of calculus. Good luck.

I'm taking Calc. 1 right now and I have been trying to use this solutions manual to check my answers and to make sure I'm doing the problems correctly. This book has not helped at all since it is full of errors. This has made it extremely frustrating when trying to learn the material in my calculus class. I would strongly recommend that you should NOT buy this book for your class. It will only confuse you.

a) the answers to the odd questions are in the back of the book. The value add of this book would be the explanations.
b) the explanations to not provide enough additional information to be of much use as a teaching/learning tool.
Giant leaps of mathematical logic with no explanation, starting assumptions that come out of thin air with no explanations.
Not saying that they are wrong, just not explained enough to justify the cost of this book.
c) as other posters have noted there are some very serious errors in this book. This does not aid in the teaching/learning
aspects of this book.
Bottom line: save your money, buy a box of scratch paper and a pencil sharpener.

I used this book up through chapter 5 of the Larson's Calc book, and I have to say it worked out pretty well. It didn't always layout the steps for the algebra involved with the calculus problems, but I used some online resources to refresh my memory. There are some reviews here suggesting errors, and I didn't notice that many to be quite frank with you. I'm afraid that a lot of people come into these solutions manuals as a means of memorizing the process of solving the text's problems at the end of the chapter as opposed to using it as a resource to aide them in learning. I found it to be quite forward and it allowed me to get an idea of how the even problems worked. By that I mean I could find an odd numbered problem to an even numbered problem I have for homework (no even solutions in the book), and with some effort I could figure out how to complete it. I also want to stress this is just ONE of the many resources calculus students NEED to use in order to master Calculus. The others involve your professor, your peers, tutoring centers (haven't come across a college/university that doesn't have a tutoring center), TAs, etc.

So before you even open up the book, attempt the problems on a scratch piece of paper and then try to find out whether you're right or wrong as opposed to having both the solutions manual and the text open and hoping to learn from just seeing. It took me awhile to understand, but you can only learn by doing and practicing like a mad woman/man. Best of luck.

There is no way I would have been able to figure out much of Calc without the assistance of this book. It shows you how to work through a problem and find the correct answer. It is extremely helpful when doing home work and I think that everybody should just be required to buy it when they but the Calculus book.

There is no surviving a Calculus course without this book.

-Possible Spoiler Alert!!!!!!

I must say that in Chapter 1, it does the "Delta - Epsilon" proofs a bit strangely. It skips some steps that a typical student would consider "important," but that's why we have teachers.

- Spoiler Alert Over!!!

I haven't actually found any errors in the solutions manual yet, and I've used it to double check my work. I've worked through Chapters P, 1, 2, and I'm starting on three. I do a LOT of problems. The worst thing that ever happens is skipped steps. Some of these steps are oddities from the algebra and trigonometry that one should know beforehand, others are a little abstract.

I got the book delivered fairly quickly and in perfect condition. I have felt nothing less than satisfaction since the day this book was delivered to my house.

I loved this book. It helped me so much through Calc II. The explanations are well in depth and they do not skip steps which i found wonderful since sometimes manuals do that even though they should explain things in depth. This book is not expensive and it came quickly when delivered. I would definitely recommend this book.

It's the same thing as the back of the book. Calcchat has the odd actually worked out for free and this solutions manual is only the odd solutions. This is the only solutions manual I have ever owned that only had the solutions and only the odd. I only gave it 2 starts because I paid less then $10 and I got it before it was supposed to.
