The book then modes o=into fiber amplifiers and lasers (including pulsed lasers), and includes detail of the various king of rare earth dopants and manufacturing. Once again the physics of lasers is present and nicely supplemented with intuitive explanations.
I teach a course in laser theory and design at a major state university at the advanced undergraduate - beginning graduate level. Since the price of the Kindle addition is so affordable I plan to recommend the book to my students as a great way to understand fiber lasers.
One final comment; the book includes numerical example, often lacking in more formal texts on lasers. It even includes the Matlab source code for the examples and exercises in the text. LOTS of useful, easy to read information in relatively few pages. I highly recommend the book.
