Joshua Waldman's ebook about managing your image on Facebook, is an essential read. Those of us using Face Book to just stay in touch with family and friends need to know how to use this powerful social media tool to keep your posts to your intended audience. I was pretty interested to discover that once you have an account, even if you opt out, everything you ever posted is still accessible. Joshua, with humor and clarity, will get you to be comfortable and secure on Face Book no matter who you are! A must read!

The Joshua Waldman book offers tips on filling out a Facebook profile and encourages readers to participate in groups and pages that offer job tips, guidance, and networks. He makes a compelling case for using Facebook apps and making us aware of some I didn't know that existed. Most people have heard of Branchout, but have you heard of "Hire My Friend" or "Career Friend?" No? Neither did I.

After reading this book you will reconsider your Facebook profile as a professional profile and hub and not a social playground. Many recent graduates and young professionals continue to lack judgment in posting messages and pictures (Waldman suggests Reppler, a Facebook app that acts as a "robot mommy for your social networks but I digress).

It is critical that the job search mission is easily derailed by careless postings whether by updates, postings, and pictures. I think even the pages that you "like" can have a negative impact on your profile. Waldman covers all things privacy and appropriateness expressing the importance of protecting image and perception from potential employers.

Joshua has done a fantastic job here talking about the monster (in a good and bad way!) that is Facebook. I did not have to worry about this when I was leaving college but I wanted to read it to learn more about Facebook and I already found a golden nugget a few pages in about Restricted settings as you add people to your network. I consider myself fairly intelligent but I must say, Facebook needs to come with a guide and a map. I love the sense of humor Joshua uses as he breaks down all the components of Facebook and teaches you how to be SMART, professional and savvy in your use of this social media magnet. This is a necessary and quick read packed with information that you will spend hours learning on your own. Great investment. Excellent value. Thank you Joshua!

This is a great read. Facebook has changed a lot since its inception, and so has the ways people use it. This book details lots of the new features, gives info about privacy issues and also best practices for using faacebook. It's true that facebook is no longer just for personal use, it now stretches to professional connections as well. What this book does is give insight on how to get past some of the ambiquity of merging those personal, and professional connections. As the book says, "Don't wait for facebook to officially become a professional networking tool."

A Student's Guide to Surviving Facebook After College has been an eye-opener for me. And I'm 20 years after college! Waldman has done a wonderful job, in twenty-something jargon, explaining the digital world and how to navigate around Facebook to promote yourself online. It's especially important to understand self-branding for young and old, when searching for a job, and the author has achieved this. Easy to read. Important information. A must read for all.
