It was an emergency back-up that barely served the purpose

Eh, you get what you pay for. My good iron started having problems in the middle of a project so I needed a back-up as fast as I could get it. This one was cheap and delivery was stated the fastest. It got me through the project but after a couple hours of use, (on and off, not constant) it wouldn't stay hot, it kept cycling off and cooling too much and I had to keep waiting. The handle, as others have stated, is kind of dangerous as there is no finger stop and since the handle is shorter than I am used to I had a tendency to almost grab it too far down. I almost burned myself twice so I learned quickly but it's a serious design flaw.

I like the price. I bought this to build some antique model railroad structure kits, and it works just fine for soldering corrugated .010 in. tinplate steel. 3 stars because the handle gets really hot, and doesn't protect you from contact with hot metal parts. Pay attention to how you pick it up! When these kits are finished, I'll throw this iron in the recycle bin. If you're looking for a quality tool for long term use? This ain't it.

A good product for an occasional solderer such as myself. 100 Watts worth of heat. Would have rate maybe five stars but there is no collar to prevent your hand/fingers. from slipping onto the hot iron. So have to use a little extra caution when using the tool. But it does the job!

Sorry to say I'm not happy with this soldering Iron. I am new to stained glass and so decided i would go middle of the road with my tool purchases until i have a better understanding of my style, likes and dislikes. Unfortunately during first use the screws in this iron came lose, one actually popping out onto my project causing me to burn myself. The handle is not long enough for me and gets very hot except at the end. Maybe I have a defective one? Its not a very sturdy product, i wouldn't recommend it, especially to newbies like me. lesson learned...fingers burned.

This iron is terrible, with defects that have the potential to be incredibly dangerous.

It worked nicely for about half an hour. The next time I used it, it heated unevenly. The temperature would go up and down so much and so unpredictably that it was impossible to solder a smooth line. And then the screws that held the iron to the handle started coming loose, and the iron would wiggle back and forth as I held the handle, making it even harder to make a smooth seam. I tightened the screws, but they loosened again pretty much immediately.

I used this iron for a total of about five hours, over a period of about a week and a half. I was able to complete one project, far below my usual standard of workmanship, due to the fact that soldering a smooth seam with this iron is pretty much impossible given how terrible it is.

The iron works fine, but after less than one month of use, the seam of the barrel above the tip is separating. So far, it has not affected performance except that now the tip has to be tightened every few days since the screw holding it in place tends to come loose. I would hesitate to purchase this particular iron again, but service from the company was very good.

I bought this iron to start a new hobby, stained glass, and at first it worked fine but I did have the problem others mentioned with the screws coming loose. I have always been able to tighten them easily but it is a potential hazard that a screw could come loose when the iron is hot and cause a burn. Now two months later the iron has died. Doesn't get hot at all, maybe a short? I will try to use the one year warranty but in the meantime I think I will buy a different one. I would guess my total usage of it was 30-40 hours.
