Going into the Construction mode I found that you not only get 2 extra unlockable arenas (that i have yet to figure out how to unlock). There are also "Directed Shows" where they give you what action to do, i.e jump this or get close to that, and you fill it in with any object you choose. Its harder than it seems because you have to score a certain number of points in order to move on to the next challenge.
The first Stuntman I feel had a better variety of stunts within each movie. In this one its mostly action triggers (which dont always work, btw) and drift turns. I know they're supposed to be action movies, but it seems like there are many more explosions than are necessary. I find myself being blinded by explosions and not being able to see where I'm going. No level is possible to get through on one take. Mainly because either one stunt will screw you up for the rest of the run or the stunt coach wont tell you where to go until the last second.
My biggest criticism is the inconsistency. You can either hit something right and it wont give it to you, or you can have an average run then miss the big action shot, the "money shot" if you will, and it will still give you 3 stars. Each scene is rated out of 5 stars. Out of 6 or 7 movies with 6 scenes each I've only had five 5-star scenes. And most of those were fairly crappy takes. On takes that I thought were really good I'd get 2 or 3 stars. The other inconsistent thing is the extras/other drivers. My best example is that in once scene youre supposed to jump into a chopper that cant get its but over there in time. Even if I pause before I hit the jump, the helicopter pauses too so that when I do hit the jump I still miss it.
It's a nice change from the first game that you can now smash through almost everything. You'll still get hung up and stuck on small things, like getting glued to the corner if you clip it, but you wont get caught on a fence post anymore. You can even hit the camera crew without even getting penalized..which I'm not sure if really a good thing or not. Good for the gameplay, but not realistic of being an "actual" stuntman.
No real change in physics from the first game to this one. A light touch is still required for most turns and if you touch a car youre not supposed to they stop immediately and dont budge, usually causing you to fail the scene. In this game however, they let you control your rotation speed in the barrel roll jumps, which is fun in some ways, but is kinda cheap and making it too easy in others. This is also the first game I've found that utilizes the PS3's six-axis motion control system. Instead of using the joystick to steer, you physically turn the controller. I tried using it and its really hard. Once you play with the settings a bit and get used to it I'm sure its kinda fun, I just havent really used it yet. Dont expect huge changes when adjusting the sensitivity and the force feedback in the options menu. Changes of at least 25% are needed to be able to notice any real difference in handling.
Overall its a fun game. Still as frustrating as the first, but with expanded feature and very good graphics. Although I will admit that the movie variety on the first game was a tad better than on Ignition.
