Overall a decent take on the Sudoku game. There are some simple UI improvements the developer can make to make out frustrating.
- There's no reason to have the letters in a seperate dialog when you have so much open space on the top and bottom.
-It should be select a field then tap a number from a list already visible. This would solve the frustration some reviewers are having with remembering the letters.
-there should be application options while in a game. Stuff like 'new game, 'restart', 'hint'.
- there should be an option to turn off haptic feedback. I personally find my phone vibrating on every tap to be distracting

The concept is great and a welcome challenge in a marketplace of brain-dead causal games but without more polish the game will remain mediocre.

Below average game as the playing is poorly executed. When you select a blank box a large square of letters appear and block the view of the entire center of the game. It is locked in place and you cannot move it. You cannot see which letters are used under the large square and it is difficult to play. The game is average at best if this was fixed.

It certainly is not as much fun as Sudoku. I am glad I didn't pay for the game.

I love sudoku, so when I saw Wordoku I thought a new and interesting twist on the classic game would be fun. After playing one game, however, I noticed some blaring UI deficiencies that made game play much harder than it should be. For instance, most sudoku games order their input field numbers, 1-9, but Wordoku presents the letters in a random order. This makes it very difficult to remember which letters are in the puzzle at play. Also, there is no color coding of letters, making it very difficult to quickly scan what letters are on the board already. These I feel are almost deal breakers for the game, as it takes me much longer to figure out what I have left on the board. I would also appreciate a game clock, as I like to compete against myself. One pro is that I am learning new words, but there is no embedded dictionary or option to look up the word from Wordoku. I would have also liked an option to turn of letting you know if a letter is correct (green) or not (red), this also takes a lot of fun out of the game.

I think this game could be great, but the user interface and input problems hold it down to two stars.

1) Even the hard level is very easy. 2) The one I just did had more than one solution, though only one was accepted as correct. This is a sudoku no-no. Solutions should be unique. 3) As noted by others, there is no provision for pencil marks, though the puzzles are so easy they aren't really necessary. 4) Also as noted by others, there should be a list of the nine letters for the current puzzle at the top or somewhere.

I thought I'd take a chance on this one when it was free. I'm not much of a sudoku player so don't know what kind of playing features a "good" sudoku app would have, but the gameplay of this one is quite basic, with the only option being difficulty level, and gameplay consisting of picking a spot then choosing the letter to put there from a popup menu; if the spot turns green you picked correctly, and if red you guessed wrong. One annoying feature is that sometimes the popup covers parts of the board that you want to look at and you can't move it (you can see it in the screenshot in the product description).

Using letters rather than numbers makes the game a bit more challenging because you have to think about a random list of letters, rather than a nice sequence of digits, making patterns a little more difficult to recognize. It requires more concentration this way.

But the downside of this game is it really boils down to unscrambling a 9-letter word and you're basically given 9 hints (8 wrong and one right); once you have figured that out you can finish filling in the puzzle or not, but the uniqueness of the game is gone at that point and there's really no compelling feature to make it better than a standard sudoku game.

So it was fun for a few plays and I will probably re-visit it later, but it doesn't really have long-lasting replay value.

I love sudoku and I love word games, so I was excited to try this one. But it was a disappointment. There is no legend on the side of the grid, so I was always tapping the grid to have the letter selector pop up. Also, there it no way to add multiple letters in one square, which should be a basic function in all sudoku games. I give this game a D-. I'll stick with my free sudoku games.

I live sudoku and I enjoyed this game as well. My only problem with this game is there is no scoring system. It might not seem important but personally I would have liked to recieve points based on how quickly I was able to find the hidden word.

challenging to wrap my head around as a numeric sudoku fan. Desperately needs more options: specifically a way to turn off the pseudo-haptic feedback vibrations. they're annoying and noisy for a bed time mindgame.
