From the Back Cover

New York, possibly the world’s most vibrant and energizing city, abounds with a wide range of shops, spots and restaurants—an abundance of riches, but where to start? This fully illustrated guide presents the personal favorites of top interior stylist Sibella Court. Cleverly arranged into loops of interest such as “Jewelry & Hardware,” “Haberdashery & Handmade” and “Furniture & Interiors,” The Stylist’s Guide to NYC takes the first-time visitor—or long-time resident—on surprising and beguiling journeys,
uncovering traditional merchants and hidden sanctuaries as well as some of the coolest spots in town.
This collection of stores, services, galleries, markets, and places to eat also contains city survival tips, maps, and comprehensive indexes. With an idiosyncratic and impeccable eye, Court celebrates the beautiful, the curious and the unexpected, making this an indispensible accessory for anyone visiting, working or living in New York. Includes foldout map plus two pockets for souvenir tickets, cards and more.

This book is set up like a travel guide - there are some basics at the start about transportation (taxis, subways, etc; tips for having purchases delivered to hotels), when to go to New York, etc.

I live about an hour from NYC, so I don't need a travel guide, but I still LOVE this stylist's guide. There are places mentioned in the book that i already know of, and many i didn't know of. Many of the places she outlines have been around for a very long time, so the guide should be useful for a few years. I was worried that it might seem like an other 'travel' book - quickly outdated. But it doesn't come across that way, because there are so many established places described. Occasionally my husband and i go for an overnight, so next time i'm going to stop into some of the places i have marked with sticky notes.

As a bonus, the book itself is nicely and stylishly laid out, with interesting and curious pictures. It's fun to look at and to read!

i've been reading this little by little--it is certainly thorough and brings you through a tour of every neighborhood and unknown corner of NYC! I'll have to check out some of these places! Format is user friendly and the book itself has a nice feel to it--pictures and paper.

I surprised my mom with a trip to NYC for Christmas, but needed something I could wrap up to put under the tree. I ordered a bunch of NYC Guide books from Amazon, and this was by far my favorite. It's very pretty, and has some different info from the typical guide books. Great for someone who is interested in seeing the fashion side of NYC.

I gave this as a gift to someone who lives in NYC. It is a visually beautiful book. The size is not as large as a typical coffee table book. However, it is full of photographs. Also, it contains a lot of useful information for someone who lives in the city or is planning a trip.

It is a style of late to have photos* that are slightly grayed, on the dreamy side,
not crisp & distinct. It is actually hard to make out some details, and while they
are very artistic, I'd like them better if they were sharper images.

*The Life of a Bowerbird, Wabi Inspirations, The Stylist' Guide to NYC, etc.

The Stylists Guide to NYC is a really fun, funky, lovely, cool book. I love the photos, the paper, the little pouches on either end of the book for stashing notes and the enclosed map of Manhattan. I go to NY all the time, usually go to my same old spots, and will now look forward to seeing some of Sibella's favorite places of interest. This is a totally fun and inspiring read if you like to shop, and more importantly, if you love to look at cool stuff. While I am not a huge fan of antiques, I will go see some of the shops she mentions just because they look so fun. It did take longer than usual to come from Amazon, but who cares? GET THIS BOOK IF YOU ARE EVEN REMOTELY INTERESTED.You won't be sorry, its beautiful even if you never go to New York.

This book opens up a totally new world of shops, ideas and places that most people would not get to see without Sibella's 20 year industry experience! I can't wait to get back to NYC and start exploring
