Fast forward five years and the two meet again and immediately hook up for sexy times that are delicious, only for Eric to meet the indomitable Tyler when he arrives home early. Poor Eric is stunned beyond belief to discover that not only does Tyler know about him, but that he approved the encounter when Connor called him, and that Tyler is not just Connor’s hubby, but his Dom, as well.
Totally new dynamic entered, and here things just move from hot to sizzling! Eric has a not-so-easy time adjusting to this dynamic, but he’s inexorably drawn to Connor like a moth to a flame, and having Tyler’s not just willingness but encouragement to join the fray makes the trio an inevitability. Connor isn’t your typical sub, however. He’s a very toppy bottom - a dominant sub - and he knows just how to work Eric to his way of thinking!
The plot is great - erotica at its best mixed with psychological and emotional adjustments. The learning curve for Eric is incredibly fun to watch! The pacing is on point, never feeling bogged down in any spot, and the peripheral characters are redolent with richness. This is another draw-you-in-and-hold-you-there-until-you-finish-it book. Filled with realistic situations, emoting all over the place (both the characters and the reader!), and insanely hot sexy times, Sub-Dominant is a five-star stellar read!
Connor has a lonely childhood. His parents are separated and he lives with his mum, who spends more time and energy with her friends and busy social circle than him, and his dad lives in England, a long way from Connor in the USA. Connor grasped at the first chance of finding love, desperate almost to find the emotional support and the caring nature he’d never received from family. At the grand old age of 17 Connor found himself involved in a relationship with someone who may, or may not, have abused his trust and desire to please. His dad finds out and puts his foot down over his wayward sons behavior, and the guy he’s seeing. Connor is moved back to the UK at the age of 18—very angry at his dad for splitting him up from his boyfriend and because his life has been turned upside down. That’s where we meet Eric, the man who is paid to help him find a new home by his dad, and who will hopefully help Connor settle into his new life in London.
Eric doesn’t want to get involved with the too young, too stroppy, too sexy Connor, but through his job, they become more involved than he would prefer. A relationship is far from his thoughts – there’s too many obstacles in their path, but sex is on the agenda and after being teased by Connor, Eric finally breaks and they enter into a passionate fling with the understanding there’s no strings attached. While getting to know each other more, Eric is confused why Connor is with him, and things come to a head one night when he questions Connor’s motives – when questioned, Connor ran, not giving much in an explanation why and leaving Eric with the belief he had been used.
We jump forward five years in their story and the two run into each other by chance which leads to a night of passion. Now, I knew from reading the earlier books what Eric was walking into, so this was the part I was waiting for through the whole book lmao. Connor is involved in an established relationship with Tyler – who is also his Dom. I was cautious over this moment because introducing a third to any relationship has to be handled carefully. I connected a lot to Eric, so when he woke to find Tyler in Connor’s apartment and found out they were involved in a relationship, well, I shared Eric’s confusion and anger. What I did really like was the fact Tyler was okay with this. Their relationship is open, so no cheating was involved. Phew! *wipes brow* That made me relax a little, as I really liked Tyler from his own book, and the last thing I wanted to happen was Connor to cheat on him. There was very little angst from Tyler and Connor regarding them moving on with Eric sexually which I loved. I felt there was no need for any further tension and it was a simple case of knowing what they wanted and going for it full steam ahead. They just needed Eric to get with the program.
It’s very physical between them, and Eric is new to BDSM, but most of their interaction happens in their club, where Eric is quickly introduced to the lifestyle and rules, but is unsure where it is all going and not sure if he wants to continue either with the relationship or the BDSM. This book is hot! There’s a lot of sex. Be prepared to have a cold shower after you read it. :D I think this, out of all Sage’s books, has the most sex. These three are obviously drawn physically together in a big way. We get to meet past stars of the series as well as meeting new ones, and they were worked in well and added depth to each one as we learned more things about them.
