Subdue the Earth Hardcover – January 1, 1977

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 ratings

A provocative extension of Dr. Immanuel Velikovsky's cataclysmic-formation-of-the-world theory. Subdue the Earth persuasively lends scientific credence to the "big bang" hypothesis as it advances the controversial thesis that Earth and its variety of animal species did not simply evolve as is popularly understood but rather were born of tremendous cataclysms, over a period not of millions of years but of only thousands. Particular emphasis is laid upon the fact that ice ages and their resulting effect on the rising and falling of the sea level-which many times has been three miles lower than at present-have been profoundly underestimated. Singularly timely is the author's dismissal of the "drifting continents" theory and his disclosures of how oil is formed, where it is likely or not likely to be found, and why. Ralph Franklin Walworth was born in 1921 and attended Shrivenham University in England and the University of Southern California.

The two authors combine research and logic to present a theory of the Earth's development far more believable than present accepted Tectonic Plate Theory. Here we find evidence about the effects on our Earth of meteor collisions, Ice Ages far in excess of current accepted theory, evidence of 3 mile drops in sea levels around the world (present accepted theory only 600ft!). A brilliant thesis which our blinkered scientific community will no doubt ignore and scorn with all the bias of mediaval Flat Earth believers.

An excellent book. Imagine the effect on continental landmasses of ice sheets 10 miles high sitting on top of them! The book has a collection of facts that won't be found in any geological textbook anywhere that I have been able to discover. The question that needs asking is, How come?
Of course, anyone familiar with Sagan's and the
AAAS's treatment of Velikovsky will understand.

The author does not discredit Velikovsky, but does indirectly reinterpret V.'s chronolgy. The book gives a very plausible explanation of eratic boulders found at great distances from accepted ranges of the ice sheets without invoking great tidal waves. Also offers a testable prediction for it major hypothesis: Where oil reserves can reliably be found!
