Editorial Reviews

Review

"His litanies from the underworld of the mind reverberate in your head and ventriloquize your own thoughts." -- William S. Burroughs

"Giorno is a bundle of tantalizing contradictions ... Having earned his stripes in the underground, he deserves broader recognition."

Format: Paperback
Anything Marcus Boon does is, in my estimation, amazing, and anything John Giorno writes is also amazing. Put the two together and you have an all-around winner. Boon's introduction is wonderfully illuminating, and the poems are verbal and intellectual gems. My favorites are "Just Say No to Family Values" and Thanx 4 Nothing." John Giorno, thanx 4 putting your antiestablishment thoughts into such striking language.

Giorno plumbs the depths of his experiences and what he brings to the page cannot be ignored. His voice is primal, immediate, urgent, visceral, and real. I only hope to see the complete text of "Put Your Ear to Stone and Open Your Heart to the Sky" included in his Collected Poems when it is released. It's an amazing poem!
