In Successful Dog Breeding , Walkowicz and Wilcox stress that by electing to breed a dog, the owner is making a commitment that lasts the lifetime of the offspring. The authors, a successful breeder and a veterinarian, realistically point out the things that can and will go wrong and emphasize that the breeder's responsibility does not end when the pups are sold. Only reason for a 4 star rating instead of 5 is the age of the publication being 22 years.
