As you start to read this story you cannot help but feel so sad and angry on Tate's behalf. But he pulls himself up by his skates and tries to go on with his career and life. Vlad is the captain in the Raptor's hockey team and secretly has a thing for Tate......but not secret for long. I love how the authors showed us the men's story . The pictures they draw with their words are always very vivid. They make us fall for Vlad and Tate separately, then together. The scenes between this couple are VERY hot! When they disagree Tate takes no b.s. from Vlad and Vlad sees where Tate is right in his assessments. They compliment each other very well. On another note, Frank is awesome, as you will discover.
I so enjoyed the visits with Stan and Ryker too! Obi is added later but he gives as good as he gets from Frank.
To sum it up, this was a great read and I hope to hear about Vlad and Tate in future books, even if in passing. You know, how they are doing, does Vlad take Tate home to meet his family? Stuff like that.
Colorado's book is next and that is sure to be quite the ride!
5/5 Grapes (You'll understand once you get into the story a bit)
I received an Advanced Readers Copy for my utter enjoyment and honest review.
Vladislav, Captain of the Raptors. Trying to get his team closer to the Stanley Cup. His only goal till Tate joined the team. He can’t come out, he still has family in Russia and won’t jeopardize their safety. Tate makes him crazy but he has to be sensible.
“Sensible: A course of action chosen with prudence.”
Because of Tate, sensible goes out the window.
Sweet book about a big strong Russian and the man he falls in love with. As usual with these authors, the characters are larger than life. The team dynamics continue to fall into place. The story told is steamy and full of hockey action. I have such a weakness for Russian hockey players, they are irresistible. I can’t leave Frank the Macaw out of the review either. The Russian profanity coming out of his beak is hilarious.
Well, sort of Dom. The D/s is mild, but still fun. I wanted just a bit more from the pair in that area, but overall this is a solid addition to the series.
I would not recommend trying to read as a standalone or an entry point into the series. I would, however, highly recommend starting with

I enjoyed this one. Tate broke my heart. I feel like this series has finally found its feet and its getting better with every book.
I like Vlad but didn’t really feel the need for the D/S aspect that was included in this one. It just wasn’t needed as far as I was concerned. He could be all serious without it. It felt like a mere plot device as it wasn’t explored enough between the guys to make it believable to me.
Out of all of the characters in all the series, Vlad is the one with the most to lose with his family still residing in Russia and having no intentions of moving. I felt for him in this case but I also liked how it was handled, and enjoyed that the guys came out to only a select few and kept their lives private, it wasn’t just brushed aside or miraculously fixed, they just found a way to live and work around it.
I loved Tate and my heart broke for him early on as he was trying so hard to connect with the team all the while dealing with his ex and dealing in a way that protected her too. At the start I didn’t understand that, as the natural reaction is usually to defend yourself against the accusations, but he took it all onboard and protected her at the same time. The resolution here actually worked for me.
It was hard to read when he felt he wasn’t connecting with the team especially when all he wanted was to fit in and find a home and place to belong. When it finally came to a head with Vlad at the party, it was good to see him finally stand up for himself a little.
Colorado is great comic relief throughout this series and I am really looking forward to his book next
I felt like this could have been a few chapters longer, purely because it felt like they fell in love a bit quickly.
