NEW INFO FROM CHRISTMAS: This sugar was perfect for adding more crunch than you get from regular granulated sugar - especially on my (Gringo-ized by me recipe for Mexican Earthquake Cookies - with a manageable dough and all the flavor and texture of the original). I still don't much otherwise lie the fact that it isn't "crystals" with square corners but it does have a good use too!!!

I used this sugar mixed with yellow sanding sugar to roll Lemon Cheese Log cookies in. It gave the cookies the nice crunch I wanted - but, this is NOT cut pieces that are sharp edged (and thus sparkly) and it is not transparent - but OPAQUE. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing it. I am giving it 4 stars because it is what it said it was, but I have NEVER bought coarse sugar that looked like this. I got 1/2 of what I wanted - GOOD CRUNCH, but NO SPARKLE.

I love using this product on my baked scones. I'm not a fan of glazed pastries if they aren't eaten the same day they are made but the sugar crystals provide the same sweetness (depending on how much you use!) without having it get stuck to the wrappers when you refrigerate or freeze baked goods.

I was looking for cocktail sugar and in my search, all I saw was sugar that was almost powdery, and if you know anything about a good cocktail is the rim is never powdered, it’s always rocked, either sugar or salt.

Then I decided to check out the bakery sugar because I remembered they have rock sugar in a lot of fancy confections as a sort of garnish. And that’s how I found this product.

I’m sure they’re amazing for baking too, but I got these specifically for rimming cocktails, like a margarita. And they’re perfect for that. No added fruit flavors, no powdery substance, just perfectly sized rocks of sugar.
