Austin-based (you KNOW I always like the local boys) retro-R&B sensation Black Joe Lewis hits the mark dead-on with this jumping-jive take on classic James Brown styled call and response shout-out. This horn-driven track always makes me smile and turn up the volume whenever I hear it. This thing just flat out burns, with Joe Lewis and his backing band hitting every note right. This reminds me of the aforementioned James Brown mixed with a lot of Otis Redding and maybe some Buddy Guy for good measure. The whole disk rocks, but this track is a GREAT introduction to Black Joe Lewis.

These guys are like the Black Crowes of retro-R&B. They're not imitators, they pay homage to the greats while rocking their own unique sound.

HIGHLY recommended!

What a fun song. This music reminds me of James Brown - trumpets, gravely voice, call backs and beat. You can just imagine how this must look in concert. I hope the entire album is this great.

Sugar Foot is a great tune. However, I did not download any additional songs from this CD as they have explicit words that I don't want my kids to hear.
