In Latin America there is a similar product known as “plasticina.” Easy to use, and practical for many types of repairs.
Small repairs require just a fraction of the amount of product that’s in one of the foil packets. Therefore it’s smart to line up several items to repair before opening a packet, to maximize the yield. Once you open the packet, the stuff starts to harden in under an hour.
Heads-up: the product will have a written expiration date, past which it will dry out. Use it before it expires.

Your ads specifically show using Sugru to mend phone cables and I bought it specifically for this purpose. I used just a little at first and it broke after a few days (first photo). Then I used the rest of the package and made a big ugly fat mend on my earphone cable. That also only lasted a few days. It is not flexible as advertised--it cracked and broke after a short time. I don't want to have to put clay on to the size of a golf ball. I am so disappointed after believing your hype. Imagine if you used this on a china mug you actually cared about.

I don't know what kind of wizardry was used to make this stuff, but holy cow! I bought a metal dish rack for my sink that had no rubber feet on the bottom. I was worried about it scratching the sink, so I did some googling and stumbled upon Sugru. This "stuff," (I am still not sure what it actually is) is incredible. One packet made the 8 little feet I needed, and it works like a charm. I can't wait to see what else I can do with it! (Be warned--the black Sugru stained the skin on my hands despite following the instructions, but Goop cleaner did the trick to get my hands back to normal.)

This is basically RTV mixed with a proprietary thickener. RTV has limitations with plastics & other adhesives. I used it to repair the nose piece on some eyeglasses. It was difficult to shape small things. It wouldn't adhere to the plastic frame, as expected, so I glued it with RTV after it hardened. Several months later, it has held up pretty well. For what it is, Suguru does what it's supposed to (including the shore value), but it's best for larger shapes & ones that will adhere to the substrate.

Works Well - Repaired Headphone Cords Easily

I bought and used this to repair the cord on my headphones. It was easy to use and has held up well for several weeks now. It will likely hold for much longer but that's how long it has been since I used it so far. It looks really good, you have to really pay attention to even notice the repair. It stuck to the cord well.

Downside: I needed a small amount and put it in an airtight bag to use the rest later. That doesn't work. It is a use it or lose it deal. It hardens after you open it so you need to use all of it you want when you open it or very shortly after (that day or next day). I didn't realize this (maybe I should have?) and got to use a small pinch of black and the rest hardened. For $8, I was pretty bummed it wasted. I didn't read anything that said how long it takes to try or to use it all after opening. I will have a line of repairs for the next package I open!

Doesn’t work on rubber boots

This product did not work repairing 1” long cracks at two flex points in the rubber area on the sides of my Sorrel winter boots. I followed the directions carefully, including scuffing the surrounding surfaces with a wood file to help adhesion. I let them cure for several days.
When I wore them riding a snowmobile, one patch fell completely off and the other cracked all the way through, so I pulled it off, rather easily. I suspected it wouldn’t work on rubber as the manufacturer was noncommittal about it - never mentioning if it would adhere.
I will be trying Shoe Goo next.

I got this because I wanted to stick a heavier light unit in my shower without having to drill the tiles. I used the putty to stick the mounting bracket on the tile and let it set for the recommended time frame before I put the actual unit on. The unit that I put on the mounting bracket holds 4 D cell batteries so I was worried that the putty wouldn't hold. I didn't use as much putty as I thought I would need, one of the little packs, but that did the trick. It's been a solid 6 months and the putty has been doing great! It's just as strong as it was when it hardened. It's in the shower so it does get surrounded by moisture but it doesn't affect it at all. The bond is strong and doesn't seem like it will fall anytime soon. GREAT product!

Very useful for jobs where other products don’t work. This is my second sugru purchase having bought a pack 3 or 4 years ago when it first appeared on Amazon. The jobs it’s good at fixing don’t crop up often in my household so I used a couple of packs when I first bought it and put the rest away until the next ‘rainy day repair’. That was last week when I needed a product to stick to a flat switch and build it up into a button so that my aged mother could use it. Unfortunately the pack I bought previously was a couple of years beyond the use by date. I tried it but it had turned ‘oily’ and wouldn’t mould as it should. I therefore ordered another pack which through Prime arrived the next day. Worked a treat on the job I wanted it for. This time I bought a pack of three instead of 7 as I probably won’t have another use for sugru until this pack has run out of code. My suggestion therefore is buy the small back (good for at least theee repairs (and O amanged two small projects out of one of the three sachets. A tube of glue you expect to last a lifetime, like a can of WD40. Sugru doesn’t, so only buy as much as you need.

Some honest person had knocked my wing mirror off in a public car park.
My car being a fairly modern second hand model with retracting mirrors, I have to say I was quite upset. A proper repair meant over £100 for a used replacement and a lot of door card removal work.
I eventually realised that as the cabling was intact, was I simply to disable the mirror retraction motor and adhere the mirror back on with some substance capable enough, then I would still keep the remote view adjustment and the heat demister function..
The loss of the retraction of the mirror seemed not worth the replacement cost and hassle, so I looked for a substance up to the job of simply gluing it back on..
The break had ocurred at a greased metal cam point at which the mirror retracted into its open and closed position, the cabling to the mirror internals running through the middle.
Looking at all the options (and discounting most as unlikely to last), I came across Sugru and decided to give it a try despite being 50/50 as to its success..
The greasy metallic points at which the adhesion would have to take place obviously needed cleaning with a substance that left no residue. I chose pure acetone as it leaves zero residue and was ok applied carefully to the metal surface. Had the adhesion point been plastic (which acetone will quickly melt) I'd have gone for surgical spirit...
Once cleaned completely, I used an entire sachet of the Sugru as instructed and held the mirror in place tightly for 24 hours by binding the adhesion point together with wound and tied bungee cord.
The result???
3 months on and two trips with a large towing mirror mounted to it, and it's still very solid...
I say solid, but in fact the Sugru leaves a slightly elastic bond that is perceptible when applying any pressure to the end if the mirror..
As budding scientists will know, structures capable of slight movement are more resilient and less liable to breakage, an element worth considering when considering if Sugru is appropriate for any individual fix...
I am extremely pleased with the result and with this substance in general..
That was a bit of a long winded review, but hope it gives someone needing it a little insight into how useful this stuff can be and its possibilities...
I am reasonably sure no other substance would have worked as well for this particular fix, and so recommend it unreservedly. :)

Ps: I feel pretty sure most of the reports of failure of this product are due to inappropriate application or poor surface preparation...

Something you should remember when you have a new puppy - everything’s a chew toy. The plastic covering on the end of one arm of my glasses was chewed off leaving a spike that stabbed me in the side of my head. Opticians couldn’t order a replacement full stop.
A colleague recommended Sugaru to me as a miracle cure for my problem so feeling a little dubious I gave it a go.

A bit more difficult to use than I thought it would be but that's probably because it the first time I've used it and what I needed it for was a bit fiddly to do.

UPDATE TO ADD. I have found if you seal it and return to use it at a later date it has hardened and is unusable, so that makes prohibitive price wise and too expensive for small jobs reduced by one star because of shelf life.

I honestly thought this wouldnt work and seemed too expensive. But as you can see from the picture, I was able to replace the cold water tap handle using sugru (never buy a franke ascona tap they're awful), Im able to turn it at the valve, the handle bit is too weak unfortunately so when using this don't expect every part to become rock hard, but it's hard enough to turn the stiff metal tap valve underneath it so that's fine. Amazing.
Paid back itself in one pack so I'm happy with the price and recommend trying it for any wacky solution you might need. Have two more packs now and the pack has an expiry of a year. So have some time to think what I can use the other two for.
They come soft out of the packet and you need to mold them right away (you get half an hour apparently) which is loads of time. So easy to use and very adhesive, it's like playdoh.
One con would be the packs still only have a very small amount. For example in the product pictures it shows a large hook made out of sugru. Understand one pack could only make a small to medium hook (think the command ones) when stretched. You'd need two or more to make anything bigger.
