Suicide Squad (Extended Cut/Blu-ray)
Suicide Squad: Extended Cut is the must-own version with more action and more Squad! Watch the movie with extra footage not seen in theaters. It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?]]>

Now, as a comic book fan I am incensed. The studio just slapped super hero branding on well known actors, mixed in some explosions and yet another skybeam and called it a day. These are some of my favorite all time characters and to see them like this is just sad. Margo Robbie looks nice but she never really seems to grasp the character. She half heatedly slips into a pseudo version of Harley's accent a few times but just for a line then back to something more mundane. She tries to use many of her signature words like "puddin" but never really delivers with any conviction. It feels like a bad cosplay, strike that, that is an insult to cosplayers. Cosplayers do a much better job of capturing the character.
The Joker is hot a mess. His look is beyond atrocious which I could live with if he was truly the clown prince of crime. Leto gets a pretty good joker laugh but all in all its just a hot mess, a shallow joker with little direction. His mannerisms made me feel more like he was a drug addict than actually crazy and he kept doing this growl talking thing that just comes off strange. For me, Mark Hamill will always be the definitive Joker.
Most of the other characters are in the background so much that there isn't much to praise or criticize. I will say however that I was far from happy with the way "The Enchantress" was portrayed. It wasn't so bad at first but the longer the movie runs the odder the performance gets. Toward the end she is constantly gyrating around like she has MS. It's very strange and jarring to watch.
All in all I felt like this movie kept trying to distract me with Margo's butt or a pretty skybeam to make me forget what a bad movie I was watching
Yes, this film has it's problems and yes I would have liked to see things done a little different. A perfect example was to make Killer Croc CGI because he is kinda suppose to be just little shorter than The Hulk. Also, I feel the songs used were a little over the top and just felt out of place from time to time. I feel the biggest thing that this film does not get credit for is just seeing a bigger DCEU world knowing just how much of it is developing along with the element of surprise. I am a proud owner of this film and I am looking forward to the follow up already green lit and in the works.
