Sukisho Cant Stop Lov
Amazon.com
The title of the shounen-ai (boys-love) broadcast series Sukisho! (2005) comes from a phrase that means roughly "I like what I like, so there!" Sora Hashiba returns to his all-boys high school suffering from memory lapses after a fall from a fourth-story window. He takes an immediate dislike to his new roommate, Sunao Fujimori, but inside Sora and Sunao are the lovers Yuro and Ran; these alter-egos don't always appear at the same time, which produces some complicated misunderstandings. As their regular selves, Sora and Sunao have to cope with a thief disguised as Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon and the ghost of a boy with a crush on Sora. They're also plagued by energetic dorm captain Matsuri, who assigns them embarrassing jobs. Sukisho is an odd program, and the characters are drawn with a kind of plush-toy cuteness unlike the fey elegance of standard bishonen (beautiful boys). Sora, who has memory problems which are not explained on this disc, does not remember Sunao--his childhood friend. This makes Sunao unreasonably mad, and the boy declares that he hates Sora and stands by that for several episodes.
But the two are constantly being thrown together by their mutual friend, who's name has just abandonned me (but he has a really impressive blonde mullet, so I'll refer to him as 'Mullet-san' for the purposes of this review.). This is all well and good, but Mullet-san's master plans and the ways Sunao and Sora fall into them aren't very believable. For example, at one point Sunao gets 'tricked' into dressing up like a western princess and suddenly not only has his haircut changed, but it's well-curled. The effort that would have taken doesn't really follow the lines of him still being surprised about the outfit when he comes out of the dressing room. Also, there is perfume.
But regardless of little plot holes like that, we still get the fanservice of a pretty boy in a pretty dress being saved like the little damsel he is.
The real concern though, of anyone who is thinking of buying this, I think, revolves around the mysteries of the plot. Very little is explained in these episodes, and there seems to be a lot going on that only subsequent dvd purchases will explain. Why Sora has memory problems, what those fragments of memories he does see sometimes mean, who the apparently evil doctor is, and what the heck happened to Sunao that had everyone so worried about him are all issues this disc brings up without resolving.
Overall this was a pretty lighthearted set of episodes which seem to be followed by more serious ones.
There are 5 episodes on this disc. And there aren't many extras on this disc, 2 AMV's for the two main characters Sora-kun and Sunao-kun, an interview with the Sieyuu (Voice Actors), clean opening and trailers.
The music to this Anime is great. Its lovely.
Based on a 4-episode BL (Boys-Love/shounen-ai) erogame of the same name manufactrued by Platinum Label, story by Riho Sawaki and illustrated by Yuzu Tsutae, with the first episode released 10th August 2000.
A version for the Playstation was released with scenes voiced by the cast for the drama CDs (same as the cast for the anime).
This Anime focuses on BL (otherwise known as Shonen Ai) and hints on soft Yaoi set in a Boys Only High School. It is a very funny Anime featuring some of the greatest Japanese Seiyuu (VA).
It is a story about Sora Hashiba, a young man who harbors a another personality inside him called Yoru, during this disc he rediscovers some of his past that he's forgotten after falling from a 4 level story window. He also relizes that his room mate Sunao Fujimori, has the same problem as he does, his alternate personality is Ran and Ran is the lover of Yoru, Sunao-kun is also an old friend and soon feeling begin to spark (but not much happens in this disc). It also focuses on a love affair between the infirmary doctor Kai Nanami and the Math teacher Shinichirou Minato. Also more sussness come in from Sora-kun's best friend, Ichikawa Gaku who is love with his science teacher, Kai Nagase. The most cutest thing is Sunao-kun and Sora-kun best friend Matsuri Honjou who thinks they make the cutest couple.
Deffiently for any Bishonen and Yaoi Fan to get! I know I'll be getting the other 2 Volumes.
