Scarred Love ~ I could not put this down once I started it. Loved the characters and the back story. Great development throughout entire book. It kept me hooked from the very beginning. Did I mention that I loved Reggie! and Darcie, and the twins Jake and Jeremy. And the heart stopper Drake. Can. Not. Wait. for what's next in the Sulfur Heights Series.
Tragic Love ~ What can I say about Drake and Presley? Just that this story is heartbreakingly beautiful. Brannon was able to capture the tortured pain of depression and the wondrous miracle of love that can heal and bring light to those trapped in the darkness. This was definitely something I would love to reread all over again. I'll just make sure to have the Kleenex ready.
Blind Love ~ I counted down the days until I finally got my hands on this one. Not going to spoil it for anyone. You just have to read. I loved it and now I have to wait for the next. M.S. Brannon you rock sista!
Surviving Love~ Love the way Brannon tells a story. Once I started reading Surviving Love I could not put it down. It was a heart wrenching emotional roller coaster from the very first word. It takes off diving back into Drake's loss head on and Brannon holds nothing back as she hooks her claws in you. She gives a little bit of closure and leaves so much room for the next installment in the series. I can't wait for Jeremy's story. M.S. BRANNON ROCKS!
Redeemed Love ~ I have been waiting for Jeremy's story since we got to know the Evans brothers in the first book in the Sulfur Heights series Scarred Love. In each book, we get glimpses at what Jeremy is like but not until Redeemed Love does Brannon let the ball drop on what has been going on behind closed doors so to speak. By bringing the bad boy of the family to the forefront, we can finally understand what it's like to grow up in Sulfur Heights and the fight he and his family has had just to survive. The story has two parts to it The Underworld and the Aftermath. Both showcase the different sides to Jeremy and introduces us to Cami, the lucky girl who has worked her way into his life but only to be a apart of the dark side of it. Will her pull on him be strong enough to save him or will his darker side take over completely? Read Redeemed Love to found out.
Everlasting Love ~ Time and time again, M.S. Brannon has left me utterly numb with her excellent writing. Everlasting Love brings closure to my favorite series and my favorite set of brothers. The Evans family has had their share of pain, tragedy, survival and redemption. After all they are the Evans family, they do what they do best.... they survive. Just like with all the other books in this series, it was heartbreakingly beautiful.
My review for book 4 Surviving Love: You put your heart into this book. And I felt your heart, your emotions while you were writing that. Because it was as if you were standing next to me feeling the same thing that I was going through. And that is something I would never want anybody to go through. You touched on everything in this book. I applaud you for that. Surviving Love has a place in my heart just for that. I thank you Fireball. You gave me a reason to remember again. To feel the love again even if I can't feel the hug anymore.
Alright enough of this emotional stuff. My review
Enter Drake. After losing his first true love we see him as a young man struggling with the loss and trying to be a father to Mia. With every new day that is upon him he is reliving some type of the nightmare over again. With the Evans family and Mrs. Fields acting as a mother to him that he always wanted he is able to do what he has to in order to raise his daughter. Even if he feels alone. Feeling that nobody can understand the pain that is inside of him. Holding all of his emotions Drake turns to drinking on the wkends to become numb. From the pain that happened to Presley. The pain from knowing what his brother has done. And also that he is never going to be able to love again. What is a young struggling (emotionally) father to do? He knows that if the war inside his head was to take a day off he would be dead. How does one survive with this battle going on inside of you?
Next we meet Zoe. She is always on the move. You don't make friends or family. They wouldn't stay around. They are only going to hurt you in the end. After confessing to her best friend (cousin mind you) what has happened to her, her mother throws her out of the house telling her that she is never going to be loved because she is nothing but a slut. Having nobody to turn to she takes to the road. Ending in one state to the next. At one point Zoe decides to stay until her boyfriend feels the need to hit her. Having had enough it is time to hit the road again. She enters Sulfur Heights only to run into her Aunt Connie (aka Mrs. Fields). Here she learns that not everyone in the family feels the same way. Should she stay and embrace the love that her Aunt is willing to give her? Can she accept the friendship that the Evans family is giving? Or is she going to run again. Run from everything that could bring her happiness for once.
There were 2 statements made in this book that truly hit me. I don't want to say where they are. Yet they are placed in the perfect moment.
1) "The only way to move forward in life is to accept your past. Work through it and walk forward."
2) "No, there wasn't. No one could have predicted any of it, any of it. We're always wondering what we could have done differently. And truthfully the answer is nothing. Events like that have a purpose and there is nothing anyone can do to stop them. The only control we have over stuff like that is how we choose to handle it."
Y'all need to get this book. And PLEASE get the box of tissues before you sit down and read. You WILL need them plus a bottle of JD.
If you're looking for a story that not only rips you a part, but also gives you faith that no matter what, you can have that happy ending, THESE are the books for you! From the very first page in book one, you'll be sucked into the world of the Evans family and you'll never want to leave.
What an amazing job MS Brannon has done with this series. I'm so sad to see it end, but I can't wait to see what else she's going to have in store for us!
